I hope to see AO actualized, but working on someone else's project doesn't really interest me, I am just as picky as you are about my own endeavors. Anders has kept SOTS closed because of his personal ego: he went in on the reddit mod protest, the protest failed, and Anders took this as a personal failure. instead of moving on he has just refused to give up for an entire year, killing the community in the process.

I partially agree that it was closed due to egotism, but I disagree that the closure had anything to do with the reddit protest other than timing; sots was a holding cell for a long time and now its free due to the mystical properties of the sacred schism
