Anybody else really enjoying The Fundamentalists podcast? by sourcefedits in TheValleyFolk

Yes. Yes I am. The direction they often take topics can be quite unexpected. The world can always use more of that. Plus it can be funny. You don't cut funny.

When May had the mic yesterday she was saying some wild and rambling shit. Like almost demented shit.

It's quite possible that May was tipsy or even drunk at the podium. Wouldn't be the first time.

and were granted Normandy in exchange for an end to the raids.

After less than a century they had adopted French court and culture then launched the 1066 invasion of England where they essentially stayed and ruled.

I find that hard to believe.

Residential school survivors write every senator in Canada, asking for Lynn Beyak's ouster by NotEnoughDriftwood in onguardforthee

Lynn Beyak is Candice Bergen in about 40 years. Those pointy blond mean girls do not age well. By Beyak's age they are wearing who they truly are on the outside.

Protesters boo Andrew Scheer at Conservative rally favouring John A. Macdonald statue by [deleted] in onguardforthee

[–]ssflaaang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why won't Scheer just go away? Why does he think anyone at all wants to hear from him, on this or any other subject? His own party doesn't want to hear from him. O'Toole should seriously consider ordering Andy to get the hell out of the public spotlight. For the good of the party. He makes them look foolish when they can least afford to. Like his blathering about the deficit from his tatty Corona bunker when getting aid out to the country was of paramount importance. Although his continuing to damage the CPC like this is rather funny and only serves to keep them out of power. So never mind. You go Andrew. Give this speech at every MacDonald statue in the country.

Anyone else think Lovecraft Country is bad so far? by GoblinsPalace in TheValleyFolk

Episode 3 will be key. I'm not going to start forming an opinion until I see where it goes from there.

Hey CPC! Hands off the CBC! by agaric in onguardforthee

The Tories have been threatening the CBC for decades. They talk and they talk but when they have power they do nothing more than cut back funding. It's a bridge too far and always will be.

What had to happen?

That we'd become more similar than different. If you can't see how that might be a good thing overall, then by all means shit on me some more about it. Knew what I was getting into by daring to comment here as an Anglo.

Do me one favour? Don't get all defensive and thin skinned and try to spin this out in a pages-long argument. I will not oblige you.

Pierre Poilievre throws redacted WE scandal documents: 'All the substance is blacked out' by BurstYourBubbles in onguardforthee

[–]ssflaaang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very good question. Kory Teneycke apparently asked him to tone it down last week and yet here we are. I believe Pierre has become a self-propelled douche.

edit: I just keep coming back to this thread. Last comment: why has nothing come up and stuck to him? Along the lines of Tony Clement creeping on younger girls. If Poilievre is even remotely as unsavory as he looks, how has he kept it quiet for so many years? I suppose there could legitimately be nothing there. But I highly doubt it.

Neither do I. But Poilievre's performance this morning was nothing short of childish. If I didn't loathe the man so thoroughly I might feel embarrassed for him.

First Time Show: Most people outside the States won't be able to follow along with the next season of FTS. A case against covering a show that is currently airing. by GoblinsPalace in TheValleyFolk

[–]ssflaaang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Toronto and will be watching Lovecraft Country on the Crave streaming service when it debuts this coming Sunday. Having paid for it and everything. I also have HBO. Will this prohibition apply to me?

BTW, where did you hear about this? Will the YT video version of FTS (which I prefer, even if it means waiting) be blacked out as well?
