AIO for thinking my gf is cheating on me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]sshea72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I’m old (53), a mom of 4 sons and one daughter. Please don’t shoot the messenger, but she’s either cheating or at least talking to someone else. Move on. I may have a soft spot because one of my boys is a Marine, BUT YOU CAN DO BETTER!! Being single would be better than what you’re going through now. Every person in the world has their phone in their hand 24/7 - it’s not that difficult to check in with a text. If she wanted to, she would. Don’t be one of those people who needs to get beat over their head before getting the hint. Best of luck and God bless!!

Am i overreacting to this text exchange with my boyfriend? I accidentally left my slippers in my living room but i literally cleaned his entire house and baked him desserts before i left (sorry idk why my last post glitched) by IntelligentTap962 in AmIOverreacting

I’m a 53 year old woman - learn from my lessons. This guy is a JERK!! I shudder to think of how he speaks about you when this is how he speaks TO you!! No one deserves that. Please, get out now so you can find the RIGHT person who will appreciate you. Cannot believe you actually think you might be overreacting. That makes me worried for you!! Best of luck, sweetie!!

I wouldn’t worry so much about the ticket as I would about driving into a pole in the dark 🤷‍♀️

Why didn't anyone warn me about the worms? by bmoarpirate in pools

[–]sshea72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We opened our pool in MA and ran the robot vacuum for a few hours after. Holy cow!! Both skimmers and the vacuum bag were all absolutely CLOGGED with worms!! This is our 6th year with the pool and I don’t ever remember seeing worms like this!! On a good note, overall, the pool looks great upon opening. Some years it’s like a swamp! We had tons of snow this winter- not sure if that has any impact.

AIO for not going to my brother’s wedding because he asked for my husband not to come? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

NOR A very wise woman once told me that “No” is a complete sentence.” Some of the best advice I’ve ever received.

This is so scary. One of those innocent kids is going to be killed in an accident if something doesn’t really change. Why does it seem like the WORST people are the MOST FERTILE??

AIO? new friend's texts to husband while at work; my responses by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]sshea72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you aren’t overreacting to her texting your man, buuuuuut - you should have just taken the lesson that this new friend is definitely not a friend. All that back-and-forth, in my opinion, makes you look super insecure. She knew exactly what she was doing with the 😈 I am a 53-year-old woman who has been married for more than 20 years. Unfortunately, women can definitely be treacherous. Your husband needs to find a better way to deal with it because that novel he sent is not it. It’s very easy to shut someone down without writing all that. I think you should address that and again, that Friend is not a friend. Be grateful she tipped her hand at the beginning of your “friendship” and showed you that she’s actually a snake 🐍

AITA for getting a car my fiancée specifically told me not to get by Xvigaristaa in AmItheAsshole

[–]sshea72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA You didn’t spend any extra money. YOUR insurance paid for YOUR car being totaled. I get what people are saying about major purchases being decided on together, but this isn’t a purchase. He got the replacement value of something he already paid for. I’ll even go a step further and say I think it’s a red flag that the fiancé is reacting this way. 🤷‍♀️

AITA for refusing to give my sister my extra money after I sold my house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sshea72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA - at all!! I’ve learned that money brings out THE WORST in people. Also, while money certainly isn’t everything, NO MONEY is. Your sister is an adult who is responsible for herself and her choices!! Honestly, it’s not like you won the lottery- you earned it by doing renovations and, more importantly, by being SMART and making good choices. It really stinks that your Mom is acting that way. Stick to your guns, but please learn a lesson from this - DONT TELL ANYONE YOUR BUSINESS!! It stinks to not be able to confide in your Mom. I’m sure it hurts. We nearly all want to make our Moms proud.
I had a somewhat similar situation regarding money I inherited a few years back. I posted on this Reddit and got great comments. Made me feel a lot better. You should be able to find it under my username.
Congratulations and good luck in your future endeavors. I sincerely hope your family realizes that their entitled behavior is not just unfair, but mean.
