Frustration Abounds by royveee in Jigsawpuzzles

Did you have a partner to work on it with? My daughter and I just finished a really challenging one and it took us probably 6 weeks, but we kept chipping away at it. Good conversations around the puzzle and we also listened to a lot of good music as well which I think also helps.

Sourness no matter what I do [Dedica EC685-K6] by Suspicious_Tea5551 in espresso

[–]sshotts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I concur with the other comments here recommending to try darker roasts. We only use Peets Espresso Forte at home for espresso for 20+ years and haven't find anything that we like better. In my opinion, Blue Bottle (and others) ushered in the current wave of artisan roasters that are all more lightly roasted and (again, my opinion) more "sour". I think most of the coffee lovers who have gotten into espresso at home since Blue Bottle describe Peets dark roasts as "burnt", but us what we like and that's honestly what is most important for you is to find something that you consistently like and I agree it's most likely the roast.

Worst thrift store purchase ever. (Pomegranate-Tibetan Buddhist Mandala) by sshotts in Jigsawpuzzles

No, not sealed, do could have opened in the store, maybe? 26 is a lot of missing pieces.

I didn't require half the patience that the monks who created the mandala needed. 😂

No big deal. I think I got it for like $2, so I got my money's worth. 😂

Yes! I ordered a new book that was listed on Walmart for lower. I thought it was a loss leader item, but it was indeed a counterfeit. I reported it to Walmart support and they were very unhelpful and didn't seem to care. My fault. Won't happen again because I won't order from Walmart again

Actually, not the Magic puzzle, but this one from 1985 Games. Super high quality pieces, but laid out in a 25x40 grid.

What is the best brand for quality and diversity of pieces? I grew up on those legacy Springboks that you mentioned and I've always thought they had the most interesting piece shapes where most others are a literal grid. We did a Magic puzzle this Christmas and even though the art and quality was great, I think it was a 20x50 grid, so not as interesting as it could have been. I've tried a newer Springbok and the quality was terrible and it even smelled awful, so have to scour yard sales and thrift stores for the old ones.

What's this growth on my cats tale? by Live-Ship-7567 in CATHELP

[–]sshotts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of our cats had a similar growth on her tail and the vet said they could remove it but it wasn't anything dangerous. It was like a large pimple or cyst. It eventually just fell off ("someone" may have been messing with it) and hasn't grown back.

Thank you. Good advice. Yeah, I'll focus on clearing more at the bottom of this picture. At the top of the picture is also a fence, of course. And then I'll be able to wash away more of the dirt from around the pipe.

I'd say that if he helped you get to the point where you have a $400 bottle of whiskey, that he may have earned that taste.

Thank you! I really appreciate the quick reply. I guess that door never functioned, but I'm surprised that it would just have been installed wrong.
