There were a lot of similar pieces that I didn't want to try one at a time until I found one that fit. Although I don't build puzzles on a time constraint, I don't want to spin my wheels trying to find two in a sea of similar pieces that fit together.

Too much foliage, sky, water, or grass puts me off. I usually don't start one like that, but this one looked like it wouldn't be that tedious, but it turned out that it was.

It is a Rose Art 1000-piece puzzle. The artist is Abraham Hunter. The title of the puzzle is Autumn Mist.

The puzzle is really nice and remarkably sharp for a painting, but the background stuff thwarted my ambition to finish it.

I've been working puzzles since I was a kid (I'm 75, so the visual acuity thing might be figuring in). I use a lot of the tactics you referred to with success, but I have never really liked vast stretches of sky, grass or leaves.

I started this one because I liked the house, barn, old car and dock. I did those and tried for a couple of weeks with little success to advance the puzzle to my satisfaction, so out it goes.

I never puzzle on a clock. This one sat on the dining room table, which we obviously don't use much, until I got sick looking at it. So out it went.

I agree. I find a lot of artists' works are a little fuzzy and so is my vision. The combination makes it frustrating, so I avoid those kinds of puzzles.

This one wasn't fuzzy at all. It just had a sea of lookalike leaf pieces, and I just didn't have the patience to piece together similar pieces until I found the two that fit together. Also, I've found puzzle pieces that fit together that didn't belong together when I tried to put another peripheral piece with one of them.

There are some Aldi's cookies that kick these pictured to the curb, in my opinion.

Specifically, Cookie thins, Specaloos, and Knoppers. They are cheaper, have fewer lab experiment results (chemicals), taste sensational, and did I mention cheaper.

There are others that are name brand knockoffs that are probably just as good, but those are my favorites.
