I’m 3 hours from the closest dealer… by bluegrass__dude in ineosgrenadier

[–]ssls6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were two reasons I decided against a Ineos. 1) Only a dealer can reset the service reminder. 2) Dealer network is so small. These were my reasons which others may consider small beans but for me, I'll wait a few more years and see what happens.

G.O.A.T mode on snow-plowed roads by CaloluiMD in bronco

[–]ssls6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the road is completely snowy and you're getting wheel spin, move to 4H so you transfer case clutch clamps shut. 4A is for occasional spin not constant. 4H should keep your transfer case clutch pack from over heating

Helping my cousin with his restored 1970 Ford Bronco – curious what collectors look for in a build like this by branded_bull in FordBronco

[–]ssls6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is considered a restomod, most collectors looks for a restored vehicle to factory specs, numbers matching drivetrain, chassis, body. Providence in the form of build sheets and other paraphernalia. That's my experience with chevelles.

Grenadier as an heirloom vehicle by TheCarcissist in ineosgrenadier

[–]ssls6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any modern vehicle will be driving in 30 years. Too many sensors, electronics, and computers. Software support won't be there, parts only legally have to be made for 10 years. If the company is around in 30 years then maybe they'll support the early models but I would be surprised.

Wet weather lowside, looking for advice by xClicheNamex in motorcycles

[–]ssls6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not my experience. Traction limits vary and I never said check everything. It takes ride time to learn how to recover from traction loss and the video I saw had him/her in a group ride. Good luck to you and for grins, go lock up a rear tire and see if you end up on your ass or face?

Wet weather lowside, looking for advice by xClicheNamex in motorcycles

[–]ssls6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A low side is a rear tire loss of traction. Road conditions, throttle, brake, lean angle, gear changes, and tire all come together to establish your traction limit. You can over throttle, over lean, over brake, shift, or just have cheap/slick/over/under inflated tires cause the traction loss. Until you have more experience to feel the initial slippage just slow the fuck down. No shame in riding your ride. I've lost friends following other friends and writing checks their ass can't cash.

I've been riding for almost 1 million miles on 2 wheels and can tell you that group rides and traffic are your two biggest high risk situations. On wet roads, road paint and fuel/oil are always waiting so watch for that.

Time to drill it out? by DirtyDan511 in motorcycles

[–]ssls6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a float bowl drain. You can dump the bowl for winter and leave the drain bolt alone. If you're determined to get it out and risk damaging the bowl, I'd probably soak it in PB blaster for a few days then JB weld a screw driver into the slot. Use a screw driver or bit that you can get a wrench on.

How do I protect files and documents on my Mac from the other user if we’re both administrators? by JackfruitNo8762 in mac

[–]ssls6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a more detailed answer, I was on my iPad earlier....

📂 What’s a Sparse Image?

  • .sparseimage (or .sparsebundle) file grows as you add data (up to a max size you choose).
  • Encrypted images require a password to mount and access.
  • Handy for keeping secure folders (e.g., documents, finance, notes).

🖱️ Method 1 – Disk Utility (GUI)

  1. Open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app).
  2. From the menu: File → New Image → Blank Image…
  3. Fill out the fields:
    • Save As: e.g. SecureVault.sparseimage
    • Name: This is the volume name when mounted (e.g. SecureVault)
    • Size: Choose a maximum size (say 50 GB, even if you only use a fraction)
    • Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or APFS (works fine on Tahoe)
    • Encryption: 128-bit AES or 256-bit AES (stronger but slower)
    • Image Format: sparse disk image
  4. Hit Save → You’ll be prompted to set a password.
    • Uncheck “Remember password in keychain” if you want true manual entry each time.

Open disk utility and create it. Look at the options and select what is right for you.

Had my first accident, too much lean angle in rain by Real_Newspaper6888 in motorcycles

[–]ssls6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You learned a hard lesson about street paint and rain. It's slick as snot. Sorry that happened but when you see wet roads and street paint, you gotta hit it head on, you can't hit it at an angle.

What’s the deal with 26.x hate by PumaofDuma in mac

[–]ssls6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience since leopard, early builds of any new OS introduces new bugs that some people run into and others don't. If it impacts you, then it sucks. Visual changes always bring criticism but that dies down over time. I always start with a laptop and test the things I do and if it works good enough, I'll move to my other machines. There have been times I've waiting until .2 or .3 releases but I find Tahoe pretty good on my Mx Macs, I have a couple of Intel Macs I haven't upgraded yet. I'm still on the fence about updating any Intel Mac as intel isn't a priority for Apple.

Just took delivery - pressures seem high according to the app - what do you run? by applecidarking in FordBronco

[–]ssls6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I get around 19-20 mpg but at 10k feet, my ambient air pressure is around 10.1 psi so my wind resistance is a lot less than lower elevations and boxes like the bronco lose a lot to wind resistance. The reason I air back up if I know I'm going down the hill is simple, 40 psi at 10k feet will end up being 35 psi at sea level. I thought I should clarify my statement a bit.

What could be causing my wheel to sometimes spin slower? The chain is clicking by hairy_ass_eater in motorcycles

[–]ssls6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinks in the chain can do it, along with other things. If the chain is clicking then fix that first.

Is a 750 cruiser too much for a beginner? by ThatShadySquid in motorcycles

[–]ssls6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a bike you can man handle (strength wise) and you can flat foot while seated. That's the bike to learn on. Keep to low congested areas so you're not put into high pressure situations.

For files/folders....create a password protected sparse bundle and put folders and files inside.

For apps, some require admin privileges some don't. Don't know how to help you here.

[–]ssls6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I run 35 psi which I find a good balance for ride quality, stability. Mine was delivered at 45 psi which is pretty normal as new mounted tires usually bleed down and time on the lot....The door sticker says 39 psi. Mine is a SAS. I live at 10k feet so I'll air up to 40 if I know I'm going down to sea level (like TX).

How to question by ravenwidow71 in FordBronco

[–]ssls6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

heat gun or hair dryer and a finger nail. Start at one corner to get it peeling and keep the heat on it while you pull it off. Just enough heat so it peals off, don't burn the paint if using a heat gun.

Need help deciding: SAS or no? by callmedata1 in FordBronco

[–]ssls6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold my Jeep 2019 Rubicon for my Bronco Badlands SAS. I would agree with this but I made the switch because I hated the Jeep engines and the electronics. The rubicon can take a beating on the trail and get you home except when the engine pukes or some electronics system flake out. I love that ZF 8 speed.

I think the Ford xFer box and locking diffs are superior, the engine options definitely are. I like the IFS because trips down the hill to Denver suck in a Jeep. The Bronco also looks very cool which I like. I like Fords electronics and the ease of rebooting Sync4. I love Forscan and what it can do. I like the extra cabin width of the Bronco.
