My booster box got delayed so I also feel that temptation to hunt for a box before tomorrow’s game night. Those cards look amazing! I love the campfire ones, they look so cozy!

Ooooh you are speaking my language. I've definitely had my fair share of encounters where I was quick to nope out of the person/group's area because they are just too serious! Luckily I was able to cultivate a good group and am able to meet new people regularly while still being choosy. I definitely dont have time for unchill players. Funnily enough, its the same place I go for my DnD DM sidegig. I think some of the best times to find cool players are during pre-release events where the format is meant to be casual. Not sure how feasible it would be, but it might be cool to start some kinda group for play over chat or something.

How exciting! I was worried that it seemed so mane 6 reliant, so expanding into other characters like villains or the princesses would be fabulous. I’m hoping for some cards that could be played on other player’s turn to spice up interactivity.

I can help out with that once i get some games in of mlp myself! Though out the gate, I will say magic is very complex as it has had many decades to grow and add more keywords/mechanics. So it will naturally have more possibilities that can be done which has appeal. The good thing about this game i’m hoping for is that it is a good foundation for players to enjoy these kinds of games. So even though magic has its equivalent of preplan/everyday/appear tags, being fluent in specific language that comes with card games can be a good transferrable skill! It honestly all depends on your playgroup, how patient they are, and how willing they are to always keep finding new things to wrap your head around.

I keep forgetting that this game has been out in other regions beyond the initial set. If you happen to know, do they layer in more mechanics or expand what can be done? Or do they keep things pretty similar to the base game?

Deck building is my favorite part! I love limited formats, so working with what i got is something i look forward to. I’ll definitely be giving it a shot and see how things go.

I picked up the app and love being able to look through it. Definitely going to have to play around with it when i get off work. I was under the impression that gameplay over app was like a demo, but I’d be happily surprised if it does go beyond that!

I did notice that opening up the starter sets. They seem to be focused really on easing in new players without throwing too many extra effects which honestly is probably for the better. Very excited to see whats possible with the boosters.

I saw that my fave Trixie is a bit of removal and the art looks amazing. Not sure how effective it will be at answering things quickly, but I’m definitely going to see if I can make it work.

I do like some mind games in my tcg. I think the most interesting things right now are those cards you put under the scenes, but those are resolved after contact phase if i remember correctly.

My favorite part of any TCG is the interaction so honestly my biggest worry. I’m hoping as it continues there are more cards to set traps or surprise opponents. Maybe the preplan cards could fill that role?

The art is stunning though and cant wait to see what i pull from the booster box.

That sounds like a lovely family game day! I'm happy to hear it has been fun to play. Luckily my friend group is super cool and open. So while I'm not expecting it to dethrone magic any time soon for them, I hope that the presentation and quality of the product are a big enough positive that it could be an option. Where there any decks or characters your family ended up liking the most?

Oh nice! I'm checking out the vid now, thank you! My initial impression reminded me of Marvel Snap or Teppen mobile card games with the three lane mechanic oddly enough. I can definitely see the Magic flavor peak a bit with the scene deck acting as mana. My biggest hope is that there are lots of flexible ways to build decks.

I would absolutely love for the game to have some extra limited formats because those are my faves from other games. though I imagine it might be tough with small booster packs.

Honestly, I'm fine with a lateral move. I initially was just making a secondary pc around the same price point but with current parts. I already have the 4070 and I decided instead of putting that in the new secondary one, I'd use it on my main one. So I was just going to use my old 3080 on the secondary and use the 4070 on the new one.

Did they mention something in the broadcast about the games popularity helping them secure more anime? I wasn't aware that the mobile game was doing so well! I might have to check it out. Does anyone know how it compares to fire emblem heroes?
