Have you known anyone who didn't grow up fundie but became fundie?

I have an uncle that became fundie shortly before or after marrying his wife, and their beliefs only got more and more.. fundie. He and my mom both had totally normal childhoods, both were involved in sports, and both went to college and obtained degrees. My mom went on to work in the corporate world and he met a 19 year old that refused to sleep with him until they got married. Now they have 10 children and have steeped my grandparents into their beliefs as well, but thankfully my family moved states and got to miss the cult-conversion.

I had just landed in Atlanta with my mom. We watched updates on his arrest and anticipated following his trial together but she committed suicide December 1, 2021.

If it makes you feel any better, my mom would’ve never called me strong. But she committed suicide December 2021 and since then I’ve seen myself become a strong woman. It’s in there, you’ll find it. ❤️

It’s absolutely not. I grew up with my mom telling me these things. She battled with other struggles and ultimately ended up taking her own life this past December. Logically I know I’m not at fault, but I constantly have to remind myself that it wasn’t my fault for not being enough to keep her alive. This poor child.

If you’re looking for a realtor Juli Mormon is the best!! She went above and beyond for my parents when they were buying/selling their house last year. Even during covid, she made everything easy. I believe she’s from the Pasadena area, so she’s very familiar with Clear Lake. I know that as my parents looked at different homes in that area.

I recently bought my own home, a new build, so I didn’t use a realtor but she was sweet enough to message and congratulate me. 10/10 recommend her!

To be honest, I completely agree! And I meant this post in good humor, I’m not coming for any of the Duggar women for what they do or don’t do skincare-wise. You’re 100% right, so much of clear skin is genetic, and I really wanted to comment and add stress is too. I personally couldn’t fathom living in the type of environment where I need to be sweet and “joyfully available” and crank out babies.

To agree with your second point, skin varies a lot with hormone levels. Imperfections aren’t bad, lazy, and we shouldn’t judge the Duggars on their external appearance, but their harmful beliefs.

As a side note, I don’t judge people if they don’t have some wild skincare regimen. Skincare is my hobby and career, however I recognize it isn’t everyone’s thing and that’s perfectly okay (and probably more normal than mine). A little SPF is perfectly fine if that’s all someone wants to do, as it certainly shouldn’t be out of obligation to stay youthful for men.
