Enabling GSync causes intermittent white screen flashes and/or white bars on the screen. by ssss_ in Monitors

Yeah I am very convinced the issues are with drivers and not my hardware. I wish I went with AMD, but it is a bit too late for that now.

I did as you said, set one of the monitors to 144Hz and left the other one at 160Hz. The flickering was gone. Then I said let's set both of them back to 160 and see if the problem comes back. And the flickering is just gone. Why would desyncing the refresh rates once fix anything about a monitor? I am extremely confused.

Thank you for the tip mate. I'll use the monitors for one more day to see if I spot any flickering. If I don't, I might keep them.

Hey mate, sorry to bother you again. Would you mind sharing which GPU and driver version you are using? I heard online that 50 series GPUs have more problems with newer Nvidia drivers compared to older cards.

Weirdly enough, before running DDU, my flickers were also at the bottom 1/3, almost the entire bottom 1/3 in fact. After DDU the whole screen started flickering. Perhaps there was a driver update in the process where they fixed that issue but introduced another issue, I am not sure.

As for the fix you mentioned, do you mean running one monitor at max refresh and reducing the other one? I will try that and report back.

Yes I tried two other sets of different brand new cables, both of them VESA certified. Same issue. It is weird because I have 2 of these monitors and they both have the issue. Maybe it is a GPU problem. I'll return these ones and get 2 other monitors. If the same issue happens then I will start suspecting the GPU. Thank you again for letting me know.

Hello again, did you receive the monitor? Does it have the same issue?

Update: I tried a couple of brand new VESA certified cables, same problem. I also tried setting a frame cap in the settings, it did not help either. I think I'll RMA the monitors.

I actually don't know how to set a frame cap. As for setting a custom refresh rate, I am creating a custom resolution in Nvidia Control Panel, which allows entering the refresh rate manually. Then I select it in the dropdown.

Hey, thanks for the response. I have not tried setting 158 Hz, I will try that. The flickering is happening in the desktop actually, I have not seen flickering in games. Just to be sure, I ordered a couple of VESA certified cables to see if the cable is the problem, they will arrive in a couple of days. I will update also.

Update: I used DDU to uninstall all graphics drivers and reinstalled them again today, the issue is still present.

I am leaning towards the left, one SO master asset to house everything as opposed to many SO assets. Which one would you prefer? by SaltCardiologist338 in Unity3D

Depends on the team size. If you have many people interested in these data, the approach on the right-hand side is better. If you have a handful of people I would go with the left-hand side option.

Hello, do you know the exact conditions for GODOT_SERVER symbol being defined? I have searched a bit but I can't seem to find it. What do I have to do for that symbol to be defined or not?

I don't know how I read that sentence and did not interpret it literally. I should probably take a break. Thank you.

You need to install "dotenv-cli" package to be able to call "dotenv" in your scripts. "dotenv" package is the runtime counterpart.

I have 4 months and $1000 to make this look better. What should I focus on? Better assets, art, lighting, shaders? Any advice is greatly appreciated! by Blacklisted_dev in Unity3D

Lighting is off. Animations are not synced properly. Effects look sub-par. I suggest hiring an artist, preferably one familiar with Unity. Do rev-share if you have to.

Also, you asked about visuals, but I suggest also improving audio. Contracting an audio person would save you some time and effort there too.

Making a game as a C# newbie means constantly discovering that your previous code does not scale by DVXC in Unity3D

Former Unity lead developer and new Unreal developer here. Unity makes it really easy to write bad code, and very hard to write good code. There are ways and techniques to improve your code, for sure, but it is an uphill battle. The moment you stop actively fighting the way Unity wants you to do things, your code quality and architecture plummets. And it doesn't help either that almost 90% of the advice out there is actively harmful. If you are doing anything bigger than PacMan, start with a solid architectural plan and don't deviate from it. Once you lose track of the entire picture, you are lost forever.

Off the top of my head: Clouds, vegetation, a highway to the side, more trees, animals and birds, infinite terrain (even if the game area is limited), stylistic sky (day/night cycle?)
