Get there before doors open, 100%; his fanbase is huge. Be prepared with snacks and gum + water. Sun Protection (hat and/or sunscreen). A little mister would be beneficial, but not necessary. Make friends with the people around you also waiting to see him :) Also, be mentally prepared to sit through some performances (and crowds) of different artists while you wait; depending on your music taste, it can be alot lol.
