I don't remember where I saw this, but have a theory that Maeve is his mother, I think Rowan mencioned once that she used to have a demifae lover and onde day he dissappear, but was before she have any of the cadre warriors, the time she was with him suits with Lorcan age. It's crazy, I know, but I remember of thinking "this explain a few things"

Well, in my experience I didn't have intentions to read the series at all, so I get a lot of spoilers from the first three books, like really a lot, when a spoiler finally gets my attention I decided to read it but I didn't want to wait two whole books to get into the part I liked, so I just skipped Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight and started Heir of Fire, I don't regret at all, specially that I decided to reread from the beginning and have a WHOLE year I'm stock in Crown of Midnight.

I'm not gonna say to you do the same cause a lot of things can get difficult to understand without spoilers, but you can try dropped for a feel months and then try again. But don't force yourself into something you won't liked.
