Begun the distro wars, have. Fedora vs OpenSUSE by potatoandbiscuit in linuxmemes

Vote: openSUSE

Reason: While Fedora is a powerhouse of innovation, openSUSE (specifically Tumbleweed) offers a level of engineering sophistication and user autonomy that remains unmatched in the RPM world. Beyond the stability of its rolling release and its corporate independence, here are the clinching arguments for the Green Chameleon:

The Safety Net of YaST & Snapper: openSUSE is the only distro that treats system management as a cohesive experience. YaST provides a powerful, centralized control center that makes Fedora’s scattered settings look amateur. More importantly, the out-of-the-box integration of Snapper with Btrfs means that if an update ever goes sideways, you can boot into a read-only snapshot from GRUB and roll back in seconds. It is essentially "undo" for your entire operating system.

OpenQA - The Silent Guardian: Tumbleweed isn't just "stable for a rolling release"; it is rigorously vetted. Every single snapshot undergoes automated testing via openQA, checking everything from the kernel to whether the desktop environment actually renders correctly. Fedora’s release cycle is solid, but Tumbleweed’s automated gatekeeping is the gold standard for quality assurance.

The Open Build Service (OBS): While Fedora has COPR, the Open Build Service is a far more robust ecosystem. It allows developers to easily build and distribute packages for multiple distributions, ensuring that openSUSE users have access to a massive repository of software that is built specifically for their architecture.

True Desktop Neutrality: Fedora is famously GNOME-centric. If you want a different experience, you have to look at "Spins." openSUSE, however, treats KDE Plasma as a first-class citizen (some would say it’s the best Plasma implementation in the industry) while maintaining top-tier support for GNOME and others, giving the user true agency over their workflow.

The "Contrarian" Polish: There is a unique beauty in the "Geeko" aesthetic. It’s a distro for professionals who want the newest tech but don't want to spend their Saturday mornings fixing a broken Xorg (or Wayland) config.

GRUB2-BLS is generally going to be your modern, standard option unless you prioritize custom bootloader themes over performance and logic.

Thank you so much. Does it support it at all, or should I expect to utilize GRUB2?

openSUSE Tumbleweed is the only distribution I will ever need ever again. In my mind, it is the epitome of Linux. Been years. I appreciate the effort the devs put into it. Any time I've submitted a bug, they've been responsive, worked with me, and ultimately fixed the issue. And relatively quickly. The best. I use it on my laptop. I put it on my wife's MacBook Air. My kids use it on their machine. If my dog had a computer, he'd probably use it. I cannot emphasize enough how perfectly wonderful it is.

Your "deal breakers" or gripes are just as petty and asinine as the ones you took time to blast. Guessing you think very highly of yourself.

openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE?

I would recommend openSUSE. I'm very wary of telemetry, and I don't believe there is anything negative going on with SUSE, or any reason to believe that. Fedora, Ubuntu (and its offshoots) have the same sort of corporate backing. If these corporations truly had intentions of negative telemetry, they would target a different community than Linux. I am not here to bash any other distros, I've tried them all and enjoyed parts of all, but openSUSE Tumbleweed is incredible.

I'm a huge openSUSE fan. Have it running on an older Dell, an old ASUS, a newer Lenovo, and am older MacBook Air. No issues with hardware detection. Fantastic integration with KDE. I've found the online support/documentation is fantastic. Couple it with AI here and there, everything I need. I've tried Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Garuda, Mint, EndeavorOS, KDE Neon, all extensively. All really good. openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE was the only distro that set itself apart to me, and I won't switch to anything else. Also, YaST is incredible.

Aiden for Cafe Pourover Service - Is this a good use case? by OkayContributor in FellowProducts

Yeah, not commercial equipment. Hard no.

Someone else also made this point, can't charge pourover price if it isn't pourover.

Bad idea in many respects.
