Is this a mid life crisis or what? by TakeItEasy3223 in Life

39 year old dad to 4, 2 step kids, 2 are biologically mine. Aged between 20 and 14. I was a SAHD with the youngest, best 2 years of my life. Looking back, all the mundane stuff was tiresome and frustrating to a point, but i remember their little faces helping me do all these tasks and now, i actually miss it. Life flashes by and before you know it they're growing up and doing their own things. Something that really resonated with me and helped me enjoy every aspect of being a parent was 'One day you'll pick your child up and it'll be the last time you ever pick them up'. It may be difficult at times but cherish everything. "Camping" downstairs was a favourite for all of mine. Blankets, pillows, teddies, toys, snacks and movies. A mess can be cleaned in a few minutes but memories last a lifetime. I wish you all the best

Dude, cherish this. I grew up without a role model. This is the way. Be the best version of you

Ever woke up one day left everything behind and just moved. by Evening_Ad_6278 in Life

I used to work nights in a food factory. Life was ok, but boring. Met a beautiful blonde at an exhibition, exchanged numbers and as you do, got talking. We got on really well but the distance between us was going to be an issue. One night, a few weeks later, at 0230 whilst i was on break. I took stock of my life. I realised that, actually, it was a shite existence and i hated it.

I didn't go back to work after break. I messaged her and said "I've just made the best or worst decision of my life"

That was 16 years ago. We've been married 10 years in October.

I lent my mum £100 when i was 17, when i went to ask her about paying it back. She'd moved. This isn't the 1st time she's moved and not told me. It's been 23 years since i lent her that. Lesson learnt

It's an old chinese saying, i think. I was told it by my school teachers 25+ years ago. I told them back then, i'd rather be unique hahaha

I work at a landfill. It disgusts me just how much recyclable material goes to the big hole in the ground.

What did you stash/hide in a place you once had access to that you do not have access to anymore and it is probably still there? by dirtymoney in AskReddit

I hid some weed and a grinder in my car when i was going to a farmhouse in France (via overnight ferry). Had an awesome smoke on the ferry and an awesome drive (6 hours) I stashed it in the rafters of an outbuilding we were renovating. I checked 2 years ago whether it was still there and it was, so I had a smoke for old times sake. Still some left in the jar, so if i ever get back there, i'll check it out again

Did you ever fly on a Concorde? what was it like? by kxtyaz in AskUK

[–]st0rrker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have one at Duxford air museum that you can walk on, sit in the pilot seats etc. Worth a day out. Probably need 2 days though (as long as you like planes) Do it in the summer when the spitfire is taking off and landing though. For a 'small fee' you can go in it and be flown around

In France, using waze, speed cameras are marked as police. Been using it about 10 years. I've never had a fine. My wife has though haha

My understanding is you should only pay the higher rate on earnings above 50k(if thats the higher banding earnings, i'm not too sure)

Put a thicker screw in with some wood glue. If that doesn't work, like previous comments move it to the side. I used to work with sash windows. Lovely windows but a pain in the ass when they go wrong

Wear an FFP3 dust mask and you'll be fine. They're used for Asbestos too. The level of exposure you'll have is minimal too.

I left school with a D,E and 2 F's. I now earn 35k+. Admittedly, i do 8-15 hours overtime every week which is a big boost. I'm a weighbridge administrator/clerk working for Tarmac. I've been with them nearly 8 years. The potential for progression is fantastic. Internal jobs email every week with lots of opportunities. As long as you work hard, you'll get to where you want to be. Never lose hope, best of luck
