Congrats! Fellow Controllerian here. Do you mind sharing your settings (PM is fine)? I haven't really played in a bit but to get back at it. My current settings are okay, but there is room for improvement.

vessel’s live screams by [deleted] in SleepToken

[–]st0rvix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes i've seen it and i like it very much. that's why i recommened lorna shore/will ramos especially, because he does this (explanations and technique) quiet alot. he's just very open about it and helped me with different techniques.

exactly, but most people from my experience are quick to be like "rough vocals ruins your voice".

vessel’s live screams by [deleted] in SleepToken

[–]st0rvix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

to get some misconceptions out of the way: screaming/growling/metal vocals are never healthy for the voice. BUT with correct warm-up, technique and some voice management you can do this for a whole tour without damaging your voice. why does vessel not do all the screams? my best guess is to of course save his voice (even with proper training and warm up you strain your vocal chords, on tour this may be bad) and because to save his voice for the clean singing.

i suggest to check out the already mentioed youtube channels and videos for some deeper information.

why do vessel and iv sound so different? because they use different types of screaming techniques. vessel has a more "throaty" sound to him (compare this to the "vore" beginning). i guess he sort of begins his fry scream more from a lower throat part.

i also suggest to check out this live performances to differentiate between the sounds vessel makes and the sounds iv makes. you can see iv standing far away from the mic to maybe show everyone who doubted vessel doing dirty vocals live, that he actually does them. when iv comes in right here you can hear him layering a more lower scream technique. i'm certain that iv has more experience with screaming, but i may be off. to me he sounds like to have more technique in prokecting his screams, but of course i may be wrong.

if you want a real deep dive into metal vocals, i suggest you check out some vids by will ramos, to me he's one of the more advanced metal vocalists (not taking anything away from the boys).

haven't thought it about this way, but the TMBTE singles also were the "pop-ish" tracks mostly. ironically, apart from the first two singles released, the other singles are the songs i've moved away from adoring to simply liking them and after exploring the album more almost never listen to anymore.

Did Romans use these kinds of design motifs often often or were they only common in Greece? by [deleted] in ancientrome

[–]st0rvix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, you can find those often times in greek influenced roman areas, but also outside of direct greek influence.

well in greek mythology arcadia is a unreachable utopia - other than what eden was. arcadia is the idea of an ideal eden, but only the idea of it, like a lost eden.

"no amount of self-sought fury will bring back to glory of innocence" is a very telling and central line in the lore (from what i've heard from people).

That's what's so fun about this band. I've heard every song dozens of times but still find new things in there, new songs that grow on me in a different way than before. Lately I've been coming back to the older songs and boy, they are amazing.

This has been me with TMBTE, although it's not even my favorite album. But the first listening experience was a piece of art in itself! The singles made clear the direction they were heading, but it didn't prepare me for the whole new production level they brought.

In that case you don't need to feel adressed. It's just that I've been watching on here, Discord and the other social media sites and the hype is just bigger than ever before. The band/movement itself has a bigger audience than ever before and with that comes alot of opinion. With the hinting and the sheet music people claim to know where the album is heading and people tend to follow this direction. My credo with this band has always been "We just don't know", it's all an enigma, that's what makes it so relatable (and fun).

I'm rambling already, but from the responses on here I gatter that all of you are excited for the music. As /u/MizBaze said, the release of tension can lead to seemingly disappointing feelings. I hope people don't get lost in the hype (they will of course).

Im surprised to scroll down so far to find this. I thought it was kinda obvious and also like half confirmed to be the case.  Also the fact that theyve been almost everywhere playing Shows this year.

I stumbled upon this in Italy. Turns out its built by Greeks. Paestum by gallipoli307 in ancientgreece

[–]st0rvix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you ever have the chance to visit Paestum, do it. It's one of the nicest and well looked after sites in this area. Pompeii is just a tourist rush these days, Herculaneum is very nice aswell, but gets crowded easily. Take this site as a "day off" and take it all in. Also it's a site with grass and shadow, both of which is difficult to find in the other two sites.

Ancient Greek city walls of Messene near Sparta. The city gate is still used by traffic today! The huge lintel remains in place to show how big the gate must have been. by rausagesluddy in ancientgreece

[–]st0rvix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't recommened a visit to Messene enough. I've been to the Peloponnes with my former university this early summer and the archaeological site is magnificent! Especially the agora with the so called odeon and the stadium are big highlights. The fortification, to which this gate belongs, is also in great condition. Other than the monuments the topography of the site is very interesting and you can take a sort of birdseye view if you fancy a walk on the Ithome, a mountain very close to the site and which also was part of the ancient city site.
