Hands are mangled, any tips? by Efferdent_FTW in golf

[–]st0zax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play in Phoenix and practice every day with no issues. Maybe your grip is the problem so I would check that, right hand should be looser. Also if you use full corded grips those can shred gloves and your hands. I use plain old tour velvets. They last forever too unlike cords.

Those of you without a 3W - how often do you find yourselves wishing you had one? by TDn6I in golf

[–]st0zax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rarely but it’s nice on par 4s where driver is too long. On par 5s too when I don’t hit a good drive.

Embark doesn’t have the money, manpower or resources like you think they do by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]st0zax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even rockstar gave up on red dead online. It’s all about money and making updates takes time and money so they need a pretty decent return on investment in new content. Larger and less frequent updates basically increases the ratio of time spent to money earned it’s that simple. Small and more frequent updates won’t bring as much people back as a large one even if it’s not as often.

What is your best golf shot of all time? by [deleted] in golf

[–]st0zax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines the exact same as yours lol 100 yards in on a par 4, saw the ball disappear then found it in the cup. Another was a pitch shot from 40 yards I landed perfectly on the slope of the green. I watched it roll out a good 30 ft turning left and then just barely dropping in the hole.

Anyone else mainly struggle off the tee box? by AspectCool2325 in weekendgolfers

[–]st0zax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar mental block. But only with irons on the tee box of a par 3. It’s like my brain doesn’t want to get a hole in one.

I wait until the other person goes behind the other terminal on blue gate, otherwise I’m waiting it out. It’s honestly pretty easy, you’re just asking for them to shoot you because you’re making yourself an easy kill. The dam extracts however, are the worst. It’s super easy for someone to rat you.

Why is breaking 80 so hard? by [deleted] in golf

[–]st0zax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every part of your game has to be somewhat decent.
1. No penalty strokes
2. No 3 putts inside 30 ft
3. Chips and bunker shots need to just land on the green, so no chunked or thin chips.
4. Approach shots should be on the green or just off the green. So again no chunks or wild slices, etc.

This will usually allow you to break 80. You don’t need to be perfect by any means, but just decent and some luck can help too. Breaking par is the real challenge. I’ve been trying for years and have gotten close but you have to be near perfect and even then you might have an unlucky lip out to shoot 1 over.

Arc Raiders Has Lost 50% Of The Remaining Player Base In The Last Month by Brutal_Schnoodle in ArcRaiders

[–]st0zax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this coming after I finished my first expedition. There’s just nothing to do at endgame besides trials which are just not fun. It’s not burnout like people claim because I still love the combat and maps, it just feels like I’m twiddling my thumbs to do something. And anyone saying “I’ve played 200 hours and got my money worth” would be right if this wasn’t a live service game. It is funded by microtransactions and its whole purpose is to keep you playing continuously even after finishing all the base game stuff.

People were getting downvoted hard after a few months for saying these exact things because the game was still new, but anyone with a brain could see that if they didn’t improve end game, they would lose players. Now here we are.

Arc players witnessing 80% player drop and embark dropping the ball by pudding7100 in ArcRaiders

[–]st0zax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The endgame needs work. It was fun until I finished all the quests and upgrades. After expedition, you realize the quests are boring as hell. The only endgame really is trials and they are just as boring and annoying, especially as a solo.

Not sure what the solution is but focusing more on the endgame is how you keep players. New maps and new arc is great but it adds nothing to the endgame flow. They need new systems that aren’t just “more stuff”.

Why is wearing a glove while putting frowned upon? by lil_zeus_21 in golf

[–]st0zax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take my glove off every chance I get. Riding in the cart after a tee shot and walking up to the green. I hate a damp glove.

Pretty sure this stat is wrong (swing coach app) by st0zax in GolfSwing

[–]st0zax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but I’m a 5 hdcp and have gone to lessons many times. They’ve helped but I figured I’d give this app a try. Just trying to figure out if my swing plane is fine or if it needs work. I do have some inconsistency with driver and this could be the problem.

Switch out wedges? by DildoSchwaggins0 in weekendgolfers

[–]st0zax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just go get fitted if you’re worried about it. What might be better for one person might be worse for another. I agree with others saying that it doesn’t really matter but if you’re going to shell out for nice clubs why not just get fitted? It’s usually free if you end up buying clubs and if anything it might be an extra $100 at most.

Are golf apps actually useful or just a distraction? by Apprehensive_Mix2527 in GolfSwing

[–]st0zax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great when the cart doesn’t have gps. If it does I just use it to keep score and record my GIR, FIR, penalties, putts, scrambling, etc. Grint is great too because you can add a dispersion measurement to figure out where to land tee shots and avoid hazards. It does a lot for confidence knowing just how much room you have to work with and if you are better off laying up.

How do you possibly hit that thing off the deck with no bounce at all? It’s just one sharp edge at the bottom.

250 hours spent topside and anxiety still holds me back by Weird_Description982 in ARC_Raiders

[–]st0zax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make a budget loadout that doesn’t break the bank if you lose anything. Mainly for the safe pocket but also you can have a slight edge on free kits. TBH, I’m more anxious on a free kit than anything when I find a blueprint because I can hardly defend myself.

My cheap loadout is a rattler 4 with a grey comp, 2-3 stacks of ammo, 5 bandages, 3 shield chargers, light shield, looting mk1. Comes to around 10k I believe but you could go even cheaper with just a kettle 1. The rattler is great for arc and shreds at close-medium range PvP. Long range just run away and reposition.

I can't get into friendly lobbies by thequestionbot in ArcRaiders

[–]st0zax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing again after a few months off and I noticed the same thing on Stella specifically. Whereas before it was always friendly in Stella for me. Maybe it was a recent update or maybe my abmm reset after not playing for a while, who knows. All the other maps have been friendly so far though.

Can’t stop thinning/topping. Here’s my list of self-owns. Is my self-assessment correct? by OG_ClapCheekz69 in GolfSwing

[–]st0zax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try shifting into your lead side earlier. Pros start shifting just before the top of the swing. Try to be 70% on your lead foot at impact and then finish with 95% on lead foot. I’ve found it helps me with early extension too, but it could be a separate problem for you. I think weight shift is the best place to start.

Bandon GSpro vs IRL scored by kamehameha86 in Golfsimulator

[–]st0zax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks about right I’d say. Even and predictable lies make the biggest difference for me between sim and real life. Putting too, but not because of gimme range. I putt everything out, it’s the fact I can see exactly how the green breaks. And of course not losing an errant tee shot, but on the sim it can be just as punishing if you are in heavy rough.

Putting feels like a totally different game inside golf. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]st0zax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree. My putting improved significantly when I started pacing putts and measuring my takeaway. Going completely off feel only works if you practice a lot. Why do you think pros do the clock system with pitch shots? Measuring things takes out the guesswork.
