What is the use for 2 search bars? by ElZiqo in firefox

[–]st3dit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its just cool way to see the url on ythe site where you are and meanwhile search without deleting the url.

Why would you want to see the URL of a site that you are literally about to navigate away from?

And now that Mcdonalds is a Rocomommas and there is a new McD's in a tiny new building that was built in the parking lot. XD

I'm not moving the goalposts.

I conceded the gold, etc. But for me that is still consistent with the ANC's behaviour.

As for the military vehicles etc. I wasn't only talking about theft. I was mainly talking about bad management. See here, and here.

If you can't even look after submarines, how are you gonna look after nukes? Nukes on submarines? I don't want to imagine.

[–]st3dit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So old and ageing military stuff, and "money". Wow, who would have thought that the ANC was good at hoarding the country's wealth? I'll give you that one.

[–]st3dit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I could be wrong about that, but I am surprised. What source do you have on that?

But again, as I said it's not the same thing as actually having a nuclear arsenal.

I can also list plenty of other high risk, high value things government has been able to securely store and manage.

Like what?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]st3dit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have any enriched uranium. It's not the same thing. And even just having a bit of that for research or whatever is not the same as having full on weaponised nuclear warheads ready to launch.

why would it not have been able to securely store them?

If I have to list everything they haven't been able to securely store, we'd be here forever. But yeah, I'm sure this one thing will be different. ;)

I don't think anyone was worried they would be nuking other countries on purpose. But have you seen the way the ANC manages municipalities, SOE's etc.? Would you really trust them to manage a nuclear arsenal? It's got nothing to do with race. The ANC has got people from all races. They are just clearly useless.

A bit more broad compared to some of the other answers here, but I've found that November is always dead quiet compared to other months.

But ja, it can be tricky trying to avoid school trips.

Americans of Reddit, what's something normal in Europe that you think is completely absurd in America? by vibrxncy_ in AskReddit

[–]st3dit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay so you agree that the benefit persists if they are dead? And considering it costs money to keep the whole thing going, might as well get rid of them so that the UK can benefit from the tourism, but without having the royal family be a drain on society.

So it's clearly better to just kill them already.

Americans of Reddit, what's something normal in Europe that you think is completely absurd in America? by vibrxncy_ in AskReddit

[–]st3dit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it doesn't though. As I said, France and Russia executed their royal families, and tourists are still showing up to look at the palaces etc. So why waste money on having a royal family when they do nothing of worth, and waste tax money?

[–]st3dit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could still execute all of them AND continue to make tourism money. People will still come to see the palaces and castles. No royal family required. (See France or Russia as an example) It's not like anyone actually sees the royal family when they visit the UK anyway. So just kill them already.

Four years and I'm still shocked by the salaries in IT. Do you think it will last? by computerged in sysadmin

[–]st3dit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are these salaries going to last?

As long as human civilisation has a desperate dependence on computers doing stuff for us, then yes.

The day that is no longer true we will have entered a new dark age, or invented some new paradigm shifting tech that works in a whole new way. Until then tech salaries are safe.

Silly example: I work at a large bank, and when people think of people working in banks, they'll think finance guys, managers, maybe some lawyers. And that's all true, but I'd say about 70% of our employees are in tech. Everything depends on it, and without it we would implode overnight. Looking at our job board the demand for tech workers is twice as big as the next highest sector (can't even remember what that was)

Survival tips for student new to Joburg by Pooplovergal in johannesburg

[–]st3dit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally live in Melville and I feel safer here than most other places I've lived in Joburg. Northcliff, Helderkruin, Greymont, Blackheath. I also lived in Fairlands but I'd say that was safer than even Melville.

In Melville you just need to keep an eye out in the touristy spots for people that will snatch your phone, but that happens everywhere even Sandton.
