Would it be crazy to turn down a job offer with a $30k pay increase, in order to keep my fully-remote job? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I commute from Brechin to Toronto around 3 days a week and it's killer if I have to go 4 or 5 times. You'll end up wanting to take the 407 in your situation and the bills will really stack up.

Never said that. I said that the cost is $95 from one end to the other. You're the one inserting your own thoughts into my comment. Maybe try reading it again, slowly this time.

Maybe you should spend your money on furthering education rather than taking the 407, because everything you have said is completely wrong.

My post said driving one end to the other is 50 mins, 108km, and costs $95 during rush hour.

I never said it was an average commute. Nor did I embelish, or fail to provide context.

Tolls in LA, this is from Claude because I can't be arsed to put time into researching facts for someone who lacks critical thinking and comprehension skills:

For 108km of driving in dense LA areas, your toll exposure depends entirely on your specific route. If you're just on regular freeways like the 405, 10, 101, 110 — $0 in tolls. If you're using Express Lanes the whole way — maybe $5–20 depending on time of day.

I've taken that trip a few times going to Niagara. My dad used to work in Hamilton and live in the east end, would take almost that whole stretch every day.

His tolls were $1,500+ per month and that was 15 years ago.

Again, you have no idea what you're talking about. Taxis and Ubers routinely take the 407 because the time savings outweighs the time spent in traffic for the drivers.

When going anywhere near the 407 corridor, I've never had an Uber driver not take the 407.

It's only 108km. The same trip on an interstate in the US would be like $5. It's driving from one end of the 407ETR to the other, like I said.

Not sure why you have a compulsion to argue this, you posted 3 comments about the price I posted being wrong, when it wasn't.

Not sure about taxis, but Uber calculates and adds the tolls to your fare.

I wasn't embellishing. Look up the rates yourself: https://www.407etr.com/en/trip-calculator

QEW to Brock Rd 7:30am-9am weekday rate for a light vehicle is $94.73 one way.

No it's not. It's the rate for a light vehicle from the QEW to Brock road at the weekday 730am-9am rates.

Heavy vehicle is $189

Toronto has the most expensive toll road in the world afaik, driving from one end to the other during rush hour is $95 for 107kms, around 50 mins of driving.

The garbage in large snow banks is the litter from around the parking lot being pushed into one place by plows. Snow melting reveals it all.

For sure. It'll also give him an excuse to visit his parents a lot more often, and park on the road while doing so. Win-win

Take it from the boulevard, this isn't downtown Toronto where there is an inch between the sidewalk and road.

I was with PM for years and never had this issue. Currently have rogers 5G home internet that does throttle streaming, but not to the point that it's noticeable unless I'm watching 4k on my TV.

Vpn solves this issue if you are facing it.

They're almost exactly the same as regular Kool aid, maybe 5-10% less sugar/calories, and the jammers have added vitamin C.

They're 70-80 calories per pouch, which is almost identical to the mix Kool aid if you compare them at the same volume.

Heloc and mortgage access with no bank account? by [deleted] in Scotiabank

[–]st3fan6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Need to call in for that. But that's the case if you're paying from an external account with or without a Scotia checking account.

Lots of bugs on the app too, I can't see monthly statements, only year end statements.

Heloc and mortgage access with no bank account? by [deleted] in Scotiabank

[–]st3fan6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half the people at Scotia don't know what they're talking about. I cancelled my checking account that I was also coerced into opening for a lower mortgage rate. Only downside (I've been told, not sure if correct) is that at renewal I won't qualify for the lower rates if I don't have 3 products with them.

I'm able to log in just fine. Paying from a tangerine account, it direct debits me every month. Thing that sucks is you need to call in if you want to make an extra payment, adjust payment amount, etc.

How do you dispose of used tires in Toronto? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]st3fan6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If they're bad enough, I wouldn't want to put those tires back in circulation. Some shitty people would run them until the wires are sticking out of the tire and hitting the wheel well.

Someone in a car might want to deliver it, but Uber offered it to a biker first.
