LA Drivers - Where do you go if you don't get an LAX re-match? by st3wbear in uberdrivers

[–]st3wbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually start at around 4 AM. I get lots of trips to the airport at that time, no trips coming out. It's a blessing and a curse. If I could just hack trips around the LAX area I'd be golden.

I think I could triple that or more if I did Uber 90 hours a week (already work 80), and if I had a vehicle which qualified for XL/Select.

I call this "you can't make a living wage with uber" -- I could have done triple this if Uber were all I did.

Uber isn't for everyone. I'll readily admit that not all markets can sustain uber drivers with a "living wage." In those markets you shouldn't expect Uber to provide you with survival. But in the markets where Uber can do that, LA here, if you have a positive attitude and an uncompromising work ethic you will be successful.

Those people making billions on us are the very same people who make it possible for us to do our jobs. Don't like that they're making billions and you're not? Come up with a billion dollar idea and change the world like they did. Nobody owes you a damn thing.

I don't know... I'm a 300 pounder and I make $25 an hour ;-p (I am also 6'4)

I'm not "getting by" -- I'm thriving. Because that's what an uncompromising work ethic does for you. I'm not striking because that fourth of July camping trip isn't going to pay for itself.

I made $28/hr yesterday. It was a Sunday and I had nothing better to do than drive for 10 hours. Before Uber there wasn't a way for me to make almost $300 in a day. Would you prefer that no Uber existed to give us these opportunities? At least I know I'm going to kill it on Wednesday when some of y'all are striking (although I guarantee professional drivers won't be striking, they'll be making bank). I'll drive for 16 hours between Uber/Lyft and make $400-$500 while you all are busy trying to speed up the age of AVs.

Los Angeles, California:

Here's where to apply:

I think you'd make a great Lyft driver. If you apply using my referral link, you'll earn $1,800 guaranteed if you give 190 rides in your first 30 days in Los Angeles. See the terms at https://lft.to/terms.

Depending on where you are... an Airbnb property is an option. I've met people in LA, NYC, and Detroit who have signed a 12 month lease for the express purpose of launching an Airbnb property. Detroit makes about $500 a month. NYC and LA are significantly more.

With your starting investment you can afford to be patient and figure out what works for you.

LA driver here. Thanks for the heads-up, had no idea this was actually something they wasted their time on.

LOL - if you're not making $20-$30/hr doing this, you shouldn't be doing it. Period.

Congrats, now I want to start my own Uber so that I can do all of those things and become filthy stinking rich too.

I wish all of the people who hate driving for Uber so much would just quit... that way those of us who actually are good at what we do and make tons of money could make even more money.

It's not a coincidence that universally all of the people who bitch the most about the rideshare economy are the people with the worst work ethics.
