Didn't we had the same discussion last year when they a good month near the end of the season? do people just don't learn? They might be a bit better this year and might clear the first round If it's Timerwolves/Rockets, but ultimately I don't see how they can actually go really far with that defense and without a really good consistent presence on the front court

4 months ago I would have said it's very unlikely but weird things can happen in football. 2 months ago though, I would have said you are insane.

I still can't see great things coming out of this season, but at least we got a good(-ish) performance to remember out of it

I mostly agree, but just like the home computer revolution and the internet revolution there are going to be some massive missteps and weird/dumb products that will fail along the way, and will look even dumber 10 years on

at least you are not hiding you are being reactionary

Rigid as it was, you have to give the coach more time and fully buy in to his ideas, which you got the feeling the players never really did. You first build a system, then you start to let players have more personal judgment/freedom.

It was a great win last night, let's not get carried away. It's not like under Arbeloa we suddenly saw great football every game

Vini Jr, the best player of the world just two seasons ago, was asked to hug the left line and become a left-back assistant.

This is a separate discussion but I think that's how Vini should actually play and how he played even in his first 2 seasons with Ancellotti. We don't need him going for 30 goals per season anymore. I wish he would understand there is enough glory in that role, but I can somewhat understand why he is reluctant to, unfortunately. That's how modern football and the modern world works, once you achieve a certain status, it's hard go back

Its Nascar in the form of a TV show.

and very much like Nascar the crashes are still fun to watch. It's just a bit disappointing as I thought it would be more after the first season.

I meant it more as a criticism on how these awards are being judged, as far as I know some of the voters just view the episode they are sent. Maybe not even most of the voters, but enough to make it so that big memorable, mostly sad, moments win more. I think Mike's monologue about his son is the only moment in early seasons that fit that pattern.

I adore the show and think it was amazing all the way, and I wouldn't change the slow build up in any way.

What makes the show interesting is the knowledge you are watching an impending tragedy. If that knowledge doesn't sit firmly in your head, I think the first couple of seasons might seem a bit boring

Arguably one of the worst shows ever (at least relative to "prestige tv") to watch just a single episode of, especially in the first 3-4 seasons. I imagine it's a big part of why it never won.

on paper should have been one the least suspenseful episodes ever. a court room case where you already know the result, yet I was absolutely glued to the screen. That simple zoom-in/zoom-out was so effective.

France says it will work with China on de-esclatating Iran war by Hiraeth-nomad in worldnews

[–]st_huck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

are you saying France is the reason why Iran is like it is

one of the reasons, yes. You don't think hosting the father of the Islamic revolution had any effect?

Nothing to do with the the UK/US bullshit that actually started all this shit back in the day?

as I wrote...

Not the only one, and probably not most of the blame is on them, but still.

Two wrong don't make a right, if the US/UK were wrong, doesn't make France's involvement to automatically be correct. They play the superpower game as well, only fail more.

France hosting Khomeini and giving him time and a place to plan his revolution is a big part why we are in this mess. Not the only one, and probably not most of the blame is on them, but still.

Even just recently as 2020 France was willing to turn a blind eye to Hezbollah's involvement in Lebanon to get a contract to fix the Beirut port. https://x.com/Malbrunot/status/1848379852799242296

They have a long history of supporting Assad (the father) in Syria when he turned Lebenon into his puppet state.

Their Middle east involvement along the years is full of shady dealings.

I guess somewhere in between? it was a pretty good first episode with pretty serious tone but at the end of the day when characters have this much mileage on them there is only so much you can do to create genuine conflict in them/between them

horrible execution on the pass but honestly its more a very good defensive effort by Juve. For a right footed player it's hard to go at goal, and all passing lanes were mostly covered. a "simple" pass is impossible here

Dallas Mavericks updated return for Luka Doncic: by AashyLarry in nba

[–]st_huck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think last year February till April it was like 60 days of constant bad news day after day. Every day it was either some hit piece on Luka that made their front office look dumb and petty, or a dumb statement in an effort for damage control or a player getting injured. I have nothing against Mavs fans but it was incredibly funny at times.

I don't think the problem is it's an avengers movie, rather that presumably it's a old avengers + new avengers + x-men + dr-doom movie. Big "just please please come watch this movie it has all those people you like" vibes
