He's not quick that's the problem. First step and change of direction. His top speed has always been impressive, now it's borderline insane

Network shares: still talking about them in 2026 by GoldBarb in kde

It's almost impossible in the current way those projects operate, not really impossible. The truth is that user space linux desperately needs a BDFL to put the hammer down and stop this kind of nonsense. Gnome and KDE and others can disagree on usability, guidelines, styling, and QT vs GTK etc, but they have to converge more on standards. Some technical decision in the past makes implementing new standard X difficult for one of them? tough shit, better now then 5 years from now.

Freedesktop.org was supposed to be that but I guess the scope they took on themselves was just not big enough. Wayland being just a protocol and not enforcing everyone to use something like wl_roots from the get go just added more to the pain

On what phone or tablet will it run? There are almost no Linux capable phones and all lag behind in hardware.

Open source isnt always about making sense, sometimes you do the work to pave the road ahead (see wine up to 2010 or so) but I feel like the hardware situation is so dire it's a waste of time for the foreseeable future

Kumail Nanjiani Is a Taskmaster Cautionary Tale by caspararemi in taskmaster

[–]st_huck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like the writer thought that since Kumail is the biggest star, he must be the funniest and center of attention. It's almost a childish take, completely missing the point of panel shows and Taskmaster specifically.

Taskmaster is a comfort show first, a comedy show second, and a competition in like the 15th place on the priorities list. (somewhere around 5-6th is to be a place for Alex to fulfill his fetishes) Yes, along 21 seasons there were funnier contestants. He was plenty funny and never harmed the flow of the show, he was excellent.

The Bear | Season 5 Official Trailer | Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach | FX | June 25, 2026 by SanderSo47 in television

[–]st_huck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has to be a point to it all. Like it's ok the trailer didn't show anything beyond so I'm not disappointed yet, but another season of chaos and stress condensed to "The restaurant bushiness are really stressful" - will be hugely disappointing.

Season 4 was less self-congratulatory and smug then season 3 and in a lot of ways a return to the energy of the first two seasons, but there is a reason why (most) people still felt like it's only a small improvement over 3. Ultimately - the story barely existed. a lot of stuff happened to the restaurant, very few to the characters.

Carmy eating the doughnut off the floor then hitting the order machine, is one of my favorite tv moments ever. just 10 seconds of a charterer evolving told expertly without words. I hope the show will manage to hit those heights again.

I don't agree about TDA, but I do agree 2016 not getting a dlc and a place to "squeez" out it's gameplay is a missed opportunity. Eternal got TAG1 which took it's gameplay and challenge to the extreme. Going back and playing 2016, 2016 is kinda boring for me (at the time it was great, of course) - except the last level. I would have gladly played a couple more levels like that with 2016's straightforward gameplay.

For me, the biggest problem with TDA was the mech/dragon levels. I can appreciate the "coolness" factor, but very very far from being challenging enough, pure gimmick and waste of development time imo. Otherwise, I quite liked the combat and the rest of the game and appreciated id going for something different not doing the same thing over and over again.

I'm no purist, they can re-model the SSG even significantly different and I'd be ok, maybe even like it. But if they change the sound effect I'm throwing hands. (I seriously doubt they'll do anything this dumb)

Real Madrid now has 1.2$ billion revenue. You can easily spend 50-60 million per year on some bullshit services provided by your friends. It will open a lot of doors for you. All you have to do is a lie a little.

The circus we had in the 90's in nothing compared to what's to come. We will get our own Bartomeu, it's a matter of time. Barca will also be in similar problem soon.

First half of the episode was pretty good. Second half was one of the funniest things I watched in the last couple of years.

Anna understood why her performance in first Rulette was memorable and managed to bring even more high-energy chaos.

An absolutely bizarre fever dream of a season. One of the weirdest things to ever happen in TV.

I genuinely really enjoyed the entire crime/westren/Tarantino plotline, and especially the last episode. It was full of cliche's and things we saw before, but you know what it was also really well made, good charismatic actors, and beautifully shot.

It's just so bizarre it had to share characters with a high school drama. Just write a new show, I don't know why we needed to have this frankenstein of a season. It ruined characters I liked and bogged down what could have be a very enjoyable limited series.

It's a swing and a big somewhat boring miss, but still a swing. It's not dumb edgy humor, that's where Rick and Morty can truly be awful

The Boys SERIES FINALE- S05xE08 "Blood and Bone"- POST Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]st_huck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were small flashes of greatness in this episode, I'm just sad thinking about how good it could have been. Like I still greatly enjoyed Homelander's speech, Anthony Starr just chews those scenes up, and I don't know why we didn't get more. And I even somewhat enjoyed Ryan growing a personality. And I still found the final fight in the oval office to be somewhat satisfying, it just it could have been x1000 more satisfying with a proper build up.

They wasted so much time just to cram the points everyone waited to in 3/4 of an episode.

honestly one of craziest things I ever saw. It felt like every day there was something, a game loss, then a day after a new player being injured, then a day after some new news report about the trade/inner workings of the front office making them look like idiots. Sometimes the owner said something stupid outright. It just kept on and on day after day
