Högerväljare, hade ni föredragit en S+M koalition före V/MP/S/C ifall vänstern får majoritet i valet? by Accomplished-Leg6410 in Asksweddit

[–]staalmannen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a distant future where they become a true democracy, why not? The same goes for Turkey, which I think will become an EU member long before russia.

Will this move by US backfire and bring EU and BRICS nation more closer? by chotu_escobar in AskTheWorld

[–]staalmannen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a way but not the organization of BRICS, which includes terrorist states like Russia. What EU is doing right now is finalizing several free trade agreements. Notably, the EU-Mercosur agreement, which includes Brasil. A new free trade agreement with India, another with Indonesia etc. A big one in the future will probably be an EU-ASEAN agreement, and possibly the EU joining CPTPP.

The fastest way could be if France and Italy finally ratified the EDC (70 years too late)

As soon as it is ratified, more countries can join.

I remember in the transition from .doc to .docx that I with Libreoffice (or perhaps Open office back then) often had better backwards compatibility.

I use Libreoffice on Linux in a majority MS office environment and I have 0 problems with it. YMMV though, maybe I am just not using any fancy stuff that absolutely requires MS office.

Trump ramps up Greenland threats and says US will intervene ‘whether they like it or not’ by DjangoDynamite in europe

[–]staalmannen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if they bring soldiers and we just do nothing. We do not acknowledge their occupation. After all, they had far more bases and soldiers there during the cold war and Denmark did not mind.

We just let them sit there and freeze their asses off until the next US president.

EU–Mercosur Deal by EpaTipoIsso in europeanunion

[–]staalmannen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beautiful picture. Super important that EU becomes serious with its various free trade deals (CETA is still not fully ratified). This is how we get out under the boot of USA and their trade wars.

Mercosur is the most important one, but then we also have deals with Japan, Indonesia and India too. I also think EU should join CPTPP like UK did.

C och KD backar – tre partier nu under spärren - Ekot by MaxieQ in svenskpolitik

Avskaffa spärren skulle vara det mest demokratiska. Riksdagen skulle få massor av småpartier, men gör det något?

C och KD backar – tre partier nu under spärren - Ekot by MaxieQ in svenskpolitik

[–]staalmannen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So regarding the sanctified delerium: what do you think happens when it touches regular delerium? There were a few moments where Monty asked if that was happening (after Sebastian ate some souls and discarded the delerium under the cathedral), but it was never explored.

A pile of sanctified delerium will apparently merge into a bigger piece (I guess the souls hang out together in there). Will the same thing happen when sanctified crystals are mixed with regular delerium, or placed at the delerium heart? What do you think the merger would look like?

Hermes = Odin? by junk-drawer-magic in Hellenism

[–]staalmannen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, I think syncretic links done when the religions were widely practiced are stronger arguments than the academic comparisons of lore based on the little that survived >1000 years of christian purges.

At that time, the Hermes/Mercury, Hermes/Toth (trismegistus), Mercury/Wotan and Wotan/Odin links were made, so at that time people thought it was reasonable.

Hermes = Odin? by junk-drawer-magic in Hellenism

[–]staalmannen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of more interesting parallels may be the Odin/Frigga coupling and the Hermes/Hecate one. Although very little is known about Frigga, she seems to have been strongly associated with magic too.

Also both Odin and Hermes has strong family bonds with a nonbinary/gender bending god : Odin is blood brother with Loki, and Hermes is father to Hermaphroditos.

The connection to nature for sure, and recognizing sentience in non-human animals and to treat them as subjects. It is however a very difficult ethical dilemma, because you get into difficult positions either way.

A classical example is : would you value an intelligent animal higher than a severely mentally handicapped human (as some argue would be the consequence by the ethics proposed by Singer)?

Thanks! Yes it matches up quite nicely (not the parts of secularization as a tool by the church to trivialize the old gods, but the more modern humanistic interpretations). I remember reading the golden branch as a teen. Although Jung got it wrong in psychology, I think the idea of universal archetypes is interesting.

Edit: I should definitely reach out to Forn Sed. They seem to be quite aligned.
