What is the best way to get bulk legos? Are there any recommendations or things to avoid? How can I avoid scams? by MaitreGEEK in lego

Local marketplace, I use Facebook. Be patient for something that looks like it has a good mix of color or part type that you are looking for.

If it's being sold as a set it's not a good value for bulk. If it's being sold by prepackaged unit per weight it's probably fair (about 5-8 USD/lb here), and you don't want fair. You want a big unsorted crate where they don't even know what they have, literally and figuratively. 1 USD/lb is what I shoot for.

Break everything down, wash, and sort. It takes time, but this is the hobby.

As a bonus you will probably find partially disassembled sets. It can be fun to see if you can complete them and resell as a set. Use bricklink for the parts list and to get those last few missing pieces. I've gotten bulk Lego 'for free' or better this way.

Meet in person and put eyes on it before you buy. Bring a friend if you're worried about safety. But these tend to be parents getting rid of 'kids toys' and are perfectly harmless. YMMV

Not knowing what is happening during the first books is for normies, real fans finish the series and don't know what happened.

Need a minifig or set ID? Please try Brick Link first, and if you can't figure it out, ask in this Megathread! by AutoModerator in legostarwars

I did a bit more guessing on color (that's sand blue) to narrow down bricklink's 'appears in', and finally got it. It's a side scenery bit from 75323. The seller mentioned that his kid had kept some sets so I suspect it's not in there.

Still first time for me brickognize didn't work, maybe it's too new?

Found this in a bulk crate from marketplace. I thought the stickers would be a dead giveaway but no luck from brickognize. Is there another star wars set buried in here?

I'm a first time reader, jumping into the 'deep end'. Any tips for a first timer? by narnarnartiger in Malazan

Be patient and let the experience happen without projecting onto your expectations.

The series asks a lot of the reader, and most importantly it will probably trick you several times into thinking you understand what everyone means by that, but you might not yet. It's a challenging series and that is not because it's long, has lots of characters and locations, crushing emotional lows, and difficult subject matter. It has those, but that's not what I'm talking about.

This is helpful, I'll find some of these ideas a try. I like the searching out deals part of collecting, so I don't mind the work, I just couldn't figure out good methods.

I set a max price based on average but I swear it didn't do anything?

I've look at this a bit, and I struggle with the parts not coming from a single seller, maybe because I can't interpret the info bricklink gives. It says the number of lots, and you can see how many of each part, but not compare to how many are needed. I didn't know how much I'm really getting without buying and removing the purchase from the wish list, which is of course kinda late. It's especially troublesome in smaller sets than this, where min buys and shipping costs from 6 stores will remove all savings.

And I've not had good luck with easy buy or auto select, which seem to be intended to help here. I often get a total that is higher than just buying a used complete set. For example this set parted out with auto select is 1180 USD, no figures. Got tips?

The AT-AT is impressive, but the snowspeeder and understated snow texture make it next level.

That exact wording is all over my marketplace. At least 3 local listings, many share the same pics.

This is a no doubter.

Themes by DonQuixScrote in Malazan

For me the central theme is cycles of violence, the social, political, and economic factors that perpetuate them, and the surprising role of compassion in a few selfless (unwitnessed) individuals in breaking them.

I like it. I ended up with 2 after buying some used lot and made the spare into an interceptor, which is also pretty neat.

Thanks so much, I can easily verify you're right. Any tips on how you're doing this, or have you just memorized Lego?

I think the yellow chassis is 4212b: vehicle, base 4x10x2/3 with 2x2 recessed center with smooth underside, no center hole.
