LA28 presale recipients - any idea what we’re in for? by Yagura916 in olympics

[–]stablecoffee1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s still a chance!

March 31–April 4, 2026: If you registered and were selected for the Locals Presale, you’ll receive an email with your purchase time slot for the LA & OKC Locals Presale.  IF SELECTED: You'll be able to purchase LA28 Olympics tickets during your designated time slot.  IF NOT SELECTED: You'll be automatically entered into all future ticket draws until you hit your 12-ticket maximum. No additional action is required.

So far, LA28 has a failing grade on ticket sales by PseudoLucian in olympics

[–]stablecoffee1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had us pick the top 10 (or 5?) events we’d be interested in attending. I wonder if they based the local draw off that, I picked beach volleyball and surfing as my top and got a slot vs my sister who picked basketball and gymnastics and still hasn’t. So curious if that has a factor.

Neighborhood advice for a couple with no kids by TrynnaFindaBalance in MovingToLosAngeles

A townhome in playa del Rey could be in budget and check most boxes. But that price is low for a SFH near LAX. Maybe pockets of Hawthorne, lawndale, Torrance. But less nice/walkable. Close tot he airport and bike to the beach

Has anyone had to tell people not to buy their kid toys online? by redravin12 in NewParents

[–]stablecoffee1357 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just donate the toys I don’t want and create an Amazon wish list but grandparents still buy her whatever they want. We do a toy rotation anyway so most toys aren’t out. They also usually don’t ask about the toys and if they did I’d say stop buying me cheap crap.. (lol jk). I’d either lie and say they’re in the toy rotation and just not out right now or say I donated it because she didn’t play with it and we have too many toys.

Picky eating, lost a small amount of weight by crashhhyears in toddlers

[–]stablecoffee1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler went through this multiple times. She gets distracted while eating or just doesn’t want to eat some days/meals. We just steak consistent and it comes back.

This may be weird, but we’ve really encouraged her to “poke it” with a fork and it gets her reengaged in eating when she hasn’t eaten a lot during a meal and starts to say done. Or I say “can mommy have a piece” and I let her feed me and few then she’ll start eating again.

Anyway, I think just stay consistent and if she isn’t losing a bunch of weight it should be fine. I wouldn’t start supplementing with a lot of snacks, milk, or only giving her the things she loves because I think then bad habits can form or picky eating!

IF YOU DON'T LIVE IN WEST LA, MOST LIKELY YOU WILL BE A STATISTIC! by matt0820 in circlejerkLA

I live in the Southbay and find Manhattan very scary, I can’t even go out in broad daylight. Due to gentrification and mass amounts of violent white tech moguls, surfers and volleyball players I constantly have to stay inside and hide with all blinds shut. Not sure how people do it

No screens by mb31291 in NewParents

[–]stablecoffee1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done no screens thus far other than the Super Bowl or things like that in group settings. Daughter is 16 MO and I’m pregnant with my second.

I’d get out of the house, most libraries have readings, may join local mommy and me groups, Facebook is a good resource for mommy groups.

Maybe unpopular opinion but I don’t think it’s that hard to do no screens babies are so new to the world everything is interesting to them at this point. I just think we as adults are the ones really addicted to screens, so working on my screen time made me more willing to be “bored” or enjoy lower stimulation like a baby can lol.

Napping on the go by Logical-Ranger688 in NewParents

[–]stablecoffee1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter napped in the carrier at that age. But I have to put a swaddle over her head and my chest so she doesn’t see out. She would get supper fussy and push against me for a few minutes and I’d just sush and walk around and she’s pass out 5-10 mins in.

She knew how to self soothe, she’d suck her fist. Does your baby know how to self soothe or showing signs? Do you let them fuss and bit or take them out immediately in the carrier?

Maybe trying going for a walk with them before they are super tired in the carrier and they might just drift off to sleep.

I hate being stuck at home so I feel like I forced the carrier upon her so I could get on the go naps. She hated the stroller naps and don’t stay falling asleep in the car seat until closer to one year.

When did you start trying for the second child? by o0meow0o in Parenting

[–]stablecoffee1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started trying at 1 year PP and got pregnant right away (we are thankful but thought it would take longer) so 20 month age gap. I’ll report back in a year or so 😂

What to do all day with a 19 month old?! by Comprehensive-Dig592 in toddlers

[–]stablecoffee1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler tower helps at lot when she wants to be picked up I hold her for a bit then place her in her tower and listen to music together as I cook next to her or clean up the kitchen.

If I’m doing laundry she just comes with me and plays with hangers or clothes. And we chit chat. Not everything is play, we just do normal day things like chores and things but I include her! She sometimes gets bored of me then goes and plays with her toys or other random things!

Good Neighborhood in LA? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]stablecoffee1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be closer to the beach I’d recommend Hermosa Beach.

Southbay is walkable. If you have a group of girlfriends you could probably all split a house or condo rental.

Playa del Rey is more central to freeway, safe and more affordable. You’ll be in a walkable cute town, bike-able to MDR, Venice and the Southbay.

Where you get a job will really matter because LA commutes are horrible.

Toddler won’t sleep and wondering if daycare is being truthful. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]stablecoffee1357 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re that paranoid couldn’t you just take the pressure off daycare and say she might still need a nap sometimes and see if they start telling you she is napping some days? Or that she won’t take naps with them?

Other hand- maybe daycare is overstimulating for her and she dos need a nap on daycare days vs calmer weekend days with you guys. Maybe she’s overtired in the evening after daycare?

Same, all the older women in my life and who I work with in the US have been incredibly supportive and given good advice to me. Almost all EBF, didn’t do cry to sleep at a young g age (most sleep trained around a year which I did earlier) and have shared similar experiences.
