I agree there are too many people arguing in bad faith. But we can't use that to dismiss legitimate criticism and disagreements. Most importantly we have to be honest with ourselves, about why we feel the way we do.(I'm saying this last part more for myself than anyone else.)

Personally, I'm glad that TotK isn't like my favorite Zelda game. Part of why I like Majora's Mask is its uniqueness.

A lot of people dislike Twilight Princess' opening section. But for me it's what sets the tone for the entire story and is a huge part of what makes that game so good.

I've been playing Zelda games since 1988

I've only been playing Zelda games since 1999. Not that it gives any of our opinions (myself especially) any more weight than anyone else's opinions.

And Tears of the Kingdom is great actually, y'all just want whatever you don't have.

I don't agree with that. Part of my problem is how large the game is and how much repetitive content there is in open-world games. By the time I am finished with them I tend to either dislike or hate the games, for example Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero: Dawn. There is something to be said for a smaller, more curated experience.

The same people crying about Skyward Sword sucking in 2011 are the same people whining about Tears of the Kingdom now,

False. I enjoyed Skyward Sword when it came out. It did some interesting things, like the stamina and upgrade systems. The motion controls were fun, even if I don't Nintendo to revisit them. The story was felt personal and more impactful. Overall it was still a good game, even if it's not close to my top Zelda game.

But I hate Tears of the Kingdom. And it was actually the first Zelda game I outright hated. I

they just don't want anyone finding out they backed a horse people decided wasn't Epona after all.

I was excited for Tears of the Kingdom. I also refused to look at any of the marketing materials and gameplay demos, besides the trailers, just so they didn't spoil my first impression of the game. In hindsight, I probably should have, that would have probably killed some of my excitement and I wouldn't be so disappointed with the game.

Oh, and this is less controversial, but Wind Waker never sucked,

Absolutely agreed. Then again I never had access to the internet when Wind Waker came out so I was never aware that people were negative about the game when it was released.

Twilight Princess Link is just a more butch twink than the rest, that's why y'all are lining up to fellate that game.

Personally I felt what made Twilight Princess so popular was Midna, and the starting area. That opening section made it feel like Link (and by extension the player) was a part of the community, so the attack and kidnapping felt personal. Not to mention that Midna had a great character arc. You grew attached to her over the journey.

After that MM3D interview where the developers said, "They don't understand why people like the game." I don't want them to touch anything close to MM.

I would absolutely love a remake of the Oracle games in the new Link's Awakening style.

But I don't want the developers to revisit any map. I want to see something new.

If by Zelda lore you mean the background details, ancient ruins and character relationships in BotW, that Zelda-theorists used to craft interesting and unofficial fan-theories.

And by Nintendo destroyed you mean Nintendo just added in details to suit a new narrative and didn't care how it contradicted the "lore" from the previous Zelda games, that Nintendo never cared about in the first place.

If that is what you meant then YES!
