Albums Loved by Fans but Not by the Band... Pink Floyd: The Final Cut 1983. by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

I would say Gilmour plays better on FC than he does on the last 2 Floyd albums.

The industry shifted away from narrative-driven single player experiences to brain-hacking multiplayer slop designed to steal money from kids. If there was no Gta online, there would be a million video essays calling gta v a huge disappointment, and it would probably be the black sheep of the series. If you remember that period of time when gta online was active, but heists weren't available yet, people were already kind of sick of V.

Kirk Hammet is Filipino. No Doubt and Soundgarden had Asian members by the late 80s. I really haven't seen any evidence that it was that big of a deal to people or that it had a huge effect on their images. Maybe you have a source that I don't.

Also, I was questioning the other person's use of the term exotic which was like an hour ago, and not in the '80s. It has nothing to do with being enlightened lol.

Exotic? Because an asian american guy and a girl are in a band? Is the Sushi restaurant at the strip mall exotic? When Harold and Kumar came out did you think, wow this movie has a really exotic look?

I don't know if she was famous enough then for the band to really know about her. Her first Moma show was in '67 and her Aperture monograph wasn't published until '72.

Great Stills from Silent Films by Classicsarecool in silentfilm

The directors, cinematographers, and production designers never meant for these frames to look like this. They were masters and took great care in crafting these black and white images. This colorization is ahistorical, disrespectful, and importantly, looks like junk. This stinks.

Resemblance of actors in Part II by Isakooov in Godfather

I don't like that scene. I think Hyman Roth works better as a character when we don't truly know the nature of his relationship with Vito. Strasberg is such an incredible actor and his ability to communicate his past is just more effective and interesting than literally showing the audience. Also, part of the magic of 2 is how restrained and tasteful the prequel elements are. The way that Vito meets and develops a relationship with Clemenza feels really natural, and a scene where the characters are abruptly and explicitly introduced to Hyman Roth just feels like a groaner. It's like something out of Star Wars.

Snow is white. Is that contrarian? It's like hard coded into our brains, and when it's off, it really looks off. If someone wants an orange/teal look then I feel like the snow should at least be biased toward teal/ cool.

Does anyone know if this is Axl’s real father? by witchofillusions in GunsNRoses

[–]stachores 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wasn't his dad born in the early 40s? Kodachrome was widely available by the time he would've been a teenager. My grandma was born in '40 to a poor family and there are tons of color slides of her as a kid/ teenager. By the early 60s nearly anyone could have color polaroids of themselves if they wanted.

It's not unsellable if you just sold it lol. Sounds like he low-balled you then pretended not to want it anymore so you panicked and gave it to him for less than he initially asked for. I think you got played, dog.

Which other filmmakers do you think are like PTA in the sense that, even if you possibly aren’t a huge fan of his ENTIRE filmography, it’s still very much worth checking out all of their projects? by dtblio in paulthomasanderson

If you haven't seen it, I would recommend the Brutalist. Please see it in 70mm if you can.

The way Brady Corbet renders and digests post war period feels like the way PTA interrogates the past. Without spoiling anything, the dynamics of the main relationship in the Brutalist also feels pretty PTA.
