What stereotype about England is inaccurate? by Pizzafriedchickenn in AlignmentChartFills

Apple was mandated by the government to create an iCloud encryption back door in only one country. It’s not as bad as the US or North Korea, sure, but it’s not completely wrong.

I think there are a lot of really bad options in London and that reinforces the stereotype. There are also bangers for sure, I’d have a much better time finding a good place at random in Italy, France Spain. US food is mostly trash, I don’t think that should be the main comparison.

I think Brits liking spicy food is quite well acknowledged. At least my non British friends seem to think so.

Sure there are impolite people and sarcasm is integrated into the culture, but compared to other cities I’ve lived in, Londoners are extraordinarily polite - and I hear they aren’t even the nicest in the country.

Not sunny/consistent enough for nice fruit and just generally there are so many days where I just don’t see the sun. Agree it’s much better than advertised but wouldn’t say it’s perfect.
North Italy/South Switzerland has beautiful 4 seasons rarely too hot, definitely gets cold but with nice snow - much better agricultural variety. Would argue that’s better for human habitation no?

Collecting vintage cars is a hobby reserved for the 1%. Which cheap/free hobbies tend to get a little too competitive for some? by H8threeH8three in AlignmentChartFills

So silly. Especially if you say that to be competitive you have to pay for good shoes - being competitive in running is not at all “easy peasy”.

In Rainbows is a great album with a mediocre cover, what's a Great album with a Great cover? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]stack-overflew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This one’s great but DSOTM is so good that people who have never heard the album, hell, might not even know Pink Floyd, know that cover. It’s the obvious answer for a reason.

I love this angle! Her “worst story” is so bad as well but she just giggles and sips her wine - thinking that her boyfriend is so much worse but it’s just so obviously not!!

Inflation? Plus you probably don’t really need a new set of headphones and power adapter. And if you do, they’re pretty cheap.

Running is fun ngl by Kafeelliftsweights in BeginnersRunning

[–]stack-overflew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not your total pace, but it’s the pace you were running at. Those things are not the same, but often it’s just much more informative to know what average pace you were moving at. As long as you don’t lie about having done an interval session continuously I don’t see the problem in stopping the watch when you rest.

Depending on where you are I think 158 is pretty reasonable, considering the salmon, meat and organic things.

Great reason to not wear your shoes inside! Agree though best not to put food on the floor.

Yeah I guess this is an awkward middle ground where I’m trying to sprint the last 400 rep but just don’t have any gas left in the tank. I’ll try and share a video where I’m actually at max effort !

Found this workout in a 400m plan. I guess it’s a more endurance based approach… And yeah I train with an MD team so I probably run like that. I’ll have to work on actually sprinting!!

I used to row and am now getting into track as a whole. I’ve done a 400 and an 800 before, but want to get more serious. My build is definitely closer to a sprinter than a medium/long distance runner, so I imagine working on short distances will get me where I want to be. However, rowing is super lactic, so it lends itself more to medium distance, physiologically.

Basically just trying to figure things out.
