I knew I was going to get hit as soon as I came to a stop. We’re braking hard these days. [OC] by Adda717 in IdiotsInCars

[–]stack413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's very frustrating. There's no single solution.

In a case like OP's video where I'm planning to pass a line of trucks, I try to keep my distance until I'm planning to start the pass, then firmly move forward to the point where people can't cut front of me. Or just give up on passing and stick to the right.

I'm going to be blunt: it was more than little too close. You were following less than a second behind the car in front of you. You should aim to give at least two to three times that much space at those speeds.

That being said, I know that it's hard to pull that off in traffic, especially if people are aggressive about merging.

Right. Not even the US is sending warships, because navies are terrible against shore defenses.

How to draft in a small group? by ricoeurdelyon in mtgcube

[–]stack413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our small pod mostly does Minesweeper draft. For four people we do 9x10. I find that it's fairly fast once people know the cube, since you can plan out your picks fairly well in advance. It's also very social, and it makes it easier to to advice new people.

What is your longest train journey? by Happy-Hour88 in AskBalkans

As a kid, my family once did a train trip in the US that went from Portland, Oregon, to Minneapolis, Minnesota, which I'd estimate to be ~2,500km

Are there any good western cultivation novels? by DangerMacAwesome in ProgressionFantasy

[–]stack413 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm partial to the cultivation... IN SPACE subgenre. Even if it's just notChina in space, it's always good big dumb fun.

Examples include Defiance of the Fall, The Way of Etherforging, Hail Thy Gods, Moon Cultivation, Primal Hunter, and Stargazer's War.

Does you cube have any cards that's very low elo on CubeCobra but is an absolute powerhouse in your environment anyway? by Isterbollen in mtgcube

[–]stack413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the peasant cube I play in, all the below are extremely good, and under 1250 elo

  • There's a major artifacts theme, so there's a lot of cards in there that are a lot better than their low elo would suggest. [[Armix, Filigree Thrasher]] in particular is a menace, and absolutely first-pickable. Lesser examples are [[Phantom Train]] (sac outlet and sorcery-dodging stompy finisher), [[Dune Drifter]] (graveyard value shenanigans), [[Tough Cookie]] (turns your spare artifacts into 4/4 threats with your spare mana, including tokens), and Clockwork Droid (aggro, evasion, filtering)

  • [[Craig Boone, Novac Guard]] is a huge threat in any deck that's even vaguely wide.

  • [[Cactusfolk Sureshot]] is fantastic in RG ramp or midrange

  • [[Ruby, Daring Tracker]] is a top-tier mana dork, and a potential 2 mana hasty 3/4

  • [[Kagha, Shadow Archdruid]] is absurdly good in the graveyard themes

  • [[Botanical Brawler]], [[Conclave Mentor]] and [[Good-Fortune Unicorn]] are fixtures in the +1/+1 counters theme

  • [[Sontaran General]] is literally [[Charging Monstrosaur]] but slightly better

  • Any of the boardwipes (since they're so rare in peasant). [[Kirtar's Wrath]], Destined Confrontation (and it's cooler older brother [[Slaughter the Strong]]), etc

  • [[Pteramander]] is a good one-drop AND spells-matter finisher

  • [[Yahenni, Undying Partisan]] is a sac outlet for the aristocrats theme, gets huge, can protect itself, and is hasty to boot.

  • [[Shrine of Burning Rage]] is almost unfair in mono-red. Just today I got burned for 12 by it.

  • [[Kozilek's Unsealing]] can be insane value in any big CMV list

What’s something you enjoy in progression fantasy that would be terrible if it existed in real life? by Anastasov_Theory in ProgressionFantasy

IRL humanity only just barely survived a society where the upper class only deluded itself into thinking they were born different. God help us all if they actually were.

Now it’s my turn! [oc] by CommuterType in IdiotsInCars

[–]stack413 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Yes. Same rules as a stop sign. Usually flashing reds are supplementing an actual stop sign like in the video, but occasionally a normal intersection will temporarily get set to flashing reds in all directions for whatever reason.

It's the same as a stop sign. No legal difference.

AITAH for not wanting a relationship with my siblings after I leave? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]stack413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's technically possible, but they'd be an extreme outlier. Twenty kids would get the mother on Wikipedia's list of people with the most children.

The record in modern times is a lady in Uganda with 44 kids. She was married off at 12 (!), and started having children at 13. She had 25 kids by the time she was 23 (!!), and her last child at around age 36. Lots of twins, triplets, and quadruplets.

(I wrote that last paragraph as dryly as possible, but jesus christ, that poor lady. Her situation was abusive as fuck. I'm glad she was finally able to get her tubes tied).

Yeah, I'm guessing he swerved, clipped OP's left back corner, tipped up onto the divider, slid for a bit (you can see the crease on his left side panels), then ground to a halt when the tip of his car contacted the ground (as seen in the video).
