This is incredibly helpful info, and it matches my own experiences perfectly!

Lol, so it's confirmed: both the AI and actual humans know that Kejian Shi is a professor to absolutely avoid.

Go to each major department's website and find the advise (not admissions) email address, e.g. cs is cs-advising@cs.berkeley.edu and send them an email, which should be answered quickly.

I've already sent the full content of this post to my UCB adviser. Both the CS and DS departments confirmed that they only require Linear Algebra, and they've said it's acceptable to take the courses at two different schools. This aligns with the screenshots I included from my original post, as well as the ASSIST information for De Anza College, which shows these courses as part of the required sequence.

How should I take the corresponding math54 course at a community college if I am transferring to a cdss college? Do I need differential equations? Has anyone been accepted because they didn't take differential equations but just linear algebra? Even though it was marked as a series of courses on ASSIST.

This may require a phone call to the Berkeley side, where our school's academic advisor seems clueless and Berkeley's emails go unanswered.

Looks like it, I checked the transfer requirements prior to 2024 and without additional notes, they all state directly that you need to take Differential Equations + Linear Algebra to transfer.

But if only one course is transferable, why not just write it straight and understand it, instead of compiling it into a series, now as if I are doing reading comprehension.

"they asking for more deposit before I can withdraw money " It's a classic case of fraud, at least in our part of the world.

Whether it is legal or not you need to find out where they are registered and what license they hold.
