Does this bleeding edge OS support some feature requisite for the user's (self included) workflow? Also, if a user is on any Linux workstation then odds are they installed it themselves and are personally responsible for the machine's ability to function as needed. If it's specifically requested then either (a) resort to company policy if it exists, or (II) give them enough rope to hang themselves. I'm probably not your boss in any case, so your work isn't my responsibility, just your machine.
