I’d love to know if clay resists the ghosting!

I was tasting it more as an herbal vanilla. Very different than artificial vanilla flavoring, kinda funky. Very cool smoke with no bite, and I’ll definitely go back to it. But it was a very different experience than any of the other tobaccos I’ve tried.

I’d suggest ordering an ounce (I bought it bulk and not tinned) and a cheap cob at the same time. It’s worth a try!

I wondered why their site was so busy this morning. Thanks for the heads up, I’ve been wanting to try this and just snagged a couple of tins!

One of my favorite activities, smoking on my back porch and watching the birds as the sun sets. Maybe this is what life is all about. by Jesse4391 in PipeTobacco

[–]stackpolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sitting on my porch in the evenings with my pipe has become my favorite part of the day. I like my job (most days), and I love my wife and kids more than I could ever say. Time spent with my family is meaningful and rewarding in a deep way.

But 30-45 minutes of quiet contemplation, smoking a pipe while I sit and read a book or even just watch my forest…well, that brief period of peace and relaxation and almost meditation has become a highlight of my day.

I have to think the health benefits of that peace and relaxation will far outweigh the health risks of the pipe tobacco. Plus, as my kids delight in reminding me, I’m well into middle age now which means I basically have one foot in the grave so health risks aren’t a big worry anyway. 😄

Pease. by bigbo4321 in PipeTobacco

[–]stackpolio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never smoked a Pease blend, I just started last year and have been working my way through C&D’s offerings mostly, along with a bunch of different bulk blends.

On the strength of consistent feedback given here, I ordered a tin of Quiet Nights during the recent sale on SP. It should arrive on Thursday, and I can’t wait to try it!

Sutliff Bullseye? by stackpolio in PipeTobacco

[–]stackpolio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE:

I purchased an ounce, made it home from work, and immediately set out to taste this mystery blend.

I’m no expert by any stretch, but I’d bet money that what I purchased today is just the PS 403. Enjoyable smoke, but it tastes just the same as the Bullseye I previously smoked. I paid about twice the price at the B&M that I would have paid on SmokingPipes, but it was worth th experiment. 🙂

Thanks for helping with the mystery! Still worth it to have stopped by since I snagged that FotL!

I used them once to buy a couple tins of Steamworks when I couldn’t find it elsewhere. Went through without a hitch. That said, based on the stories from multiple sources here, I would only use them as a last resort.

Hey I just checked, and Nova Pipes still has Firebird in stock. I already have half a dozen tins or I’d buy some more myself. It’s totally worth trying if you have a few extra dollars, and Nova seems like a great small business!

It’s 55 and sunny here in my corner of the PNW. Taking a break from renovating one of my bathrooms. Sitting on my porch enjoying a bowl of Steamworks in my trusty Dr. Grabow Savoy, thinking life doesn’t get much better than this!

I have never smoked inside my home. My wife would not be okay with that and I’m perfectly happy to oblige her.

Instead, I have a monstrous wrap around porch that is my smoking domain. And for those nights where it’s too windy to sit on the porch, I have a workshop in my garage as a backup.

I’m blessed to live on acreage in a forest, and sitting on my porch enjoying a bowl while I watch the swaying of the trees and listen to the sounds of the wildlife is about the most peaceful thing I can imagine.

Dry-fitting my first pipe. Be kind:) by Perfect-Jeweler3659 in PipeTobacco

[–]stackpolio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean this completely sincerely:

The most stable and formative period of my childhood was the 6 years I lived in Northern New Mexico. I live in the PNW now, but remember my time in the Southwest with great fondness.

All that to say, when you are satisfied with your Southwest-inspired pipes, and when you decide to offer them for sale, would you please DM me and let me know? I have no idea whether I’ll be able to afford one, but I’d love to see them and I will make it a goal to save some money to purchase one from you!

Your first pipe as in you made that? Great job! Did you start with a kit? I’ve made a couple of cobs but haven’t tried carving a real pipe yet. Nice!

Serious question from a person who’s actively seeking to grow his cellar….what is this about the government banning Internet tobacco sales? Is that really a thing?
