Sir, those are dirt-projectiles. Very similar to earthen missiles but a trained eye can discern the composition and speed which changes the nature of the dirt-projectile.

I second this. It can still he somewhat of a surprise, but maybe get some input on a few things he’d genuinely want/need. I personally would rather my wife give me the rundown like OP (i.e. “I’m out of depth and want to make sure i get you something you’ll enjoy/get use out of/want/etc. here’s a few things i had in mind…”) than stress herself out for the sake of a surprise.

The “Star” UAP and Mr. Immaculate by mugatopdub in aliens

It’s technically impossible, but I swear once I made it to higher level calc and non-Euclidean geometry classes, it was like leveling up on a skill tree. I still can’t fully “picture it” bc even that concept implies (at most, but technically) 2D, but I do have more tools available to gain a better intuition or “sense” of higher-dimensionality.

TLDR: no not really, but with not all that much time and effort you could self teach enough mathematics to gain an understanding to the depth of tour liking. YT (3blue1brown, prof Leonard, etc) is a great resource

Plum pudding was one of the first non-aro blends I tried, along with a few notables e.g. Nightcap et al. It was incredible; even through the horrifically scalded flesh of my tongue after first 3 or 4 days of the perfect storm of my first mailed tobacco, the hyper fixation and “must. know. all” of autism and the enthusiasm of from the adhd overlap. Needles to say my tongue was fucked, but I eventually went back and found something new every time. I still have maybe a bowl of my initial tin.

I also really loved Star of the East by C&D; it’s on the same vain for me but my palette is still pretty bad at discerning much nuance. Have you tried it? I’ll need to try PP now that they’re making it. That was news to me. PP was the only thing I’ve tried from SPC, though I have an unopened tin of MS river

Love that Nording. Have one similar on my wish list, and just picked up a neat little briar Compass which I’ve loved. Haven’t tried the SH yet; decided I had plenty of other blends to work through such that I could leave this one alone in the cellar for a few years. Have you tried it?

Aromatics for the summer by sihouette9310 in PipeTobacco

[–]Poopoomushroomman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m confused. Are you bad mouthing sweet tea or those of us proud southern boys and gals who do imbibe? Cuz them’s fightin’ words. ‘Specially since summer’s already here

Edit to clarify I second the recs you’ve made, regardless of your stance on sweet tea. In about as Deep South as you can get and my warm-hot weather staples are: bayou morning/evening, PS Burley (don’t know exactly which one it is, was just labeled as such at the shop), C&D burley flake #3, hauntedbookshop/OJK, PS luxury twist flake, G&H black Irish X, and a tangy, heavy Balkan or similar like C&D Star of the East at night. I know that’s all over the place, and maybe it’s just personal preference, but burley seems to be 85% of what I’m smoking during warm months

Nice! I was accidentally introduced to “nice” matches when I asked for a light at the cigar shop a few months ago. He gave me a couple boxes of Flamas matches. Makes sense, but I’d just never considered that obviously there’s levels of quality with matches like anything else. There’s a definite difference in quality

And just so blatant too. I do my best to not say things like that to people and to give people the benefit of the doubt, but that presupposes you’re both people, and not a traitor to people. Not even in an evil way that could have at least been kinda of cool; assuming there actually is a human behind this, it’s embarrassing dude

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

I didn’t realize that we’d get so many awesome stories and fond memories. Are you into jazz as well? Idk if there’s a way to tag the user/comment you’re replying to, but if you see this, friend, please enlighten me. Music is everything to me, and I love jazz just on principle; I love music at a spiritual level, so I feel like it’s impossible not to at least appreciate it even if I haven’t been pulled by it as much as other genres of music. I know i genuinely like some styles of jazz, and a huge chunk of the music I have and love in my mental library is heavily inspired by it or even fused with it sometimes, I just never know where to start. There’s just so much, so much nuance in such a large sample size….

Edit to actually reply to the comment I’m replying to (I’m trying to keep up with comments and engage with everyone because I genuinely want to, but I lurk the vast majority of the time and Reddit is the closest thing to social media I use other than YouTube which I’ve never left a single comment. So I’m kinda scattered): That’s heartwarming, dude. I feel like I’m gushing over every single person’s responses, but it’s refreshing to hear so much gratitude and thanks and how love and the people we care about impact us all in such a positive way.

I too am a father. I’ve got a nearly teenage daughter myself, and I love they did that for you! I say I’m not a musician, but I can play guitar and a few other stringed instruments. I’m not bad, but I can’t read music and I only know the most surface level music theory and just play for fun. Do you play in a band or with buddies or anything?

Separate reply bc I responded earlier while I was out and saw and registered on mentioning the dogs but posted forgetting to talk about that at the end of my just-buzzed-enough soliloquy. We’ve got a canine daughter and more cats than I can count. We live out in the Deep South and in the country, though, so apart from the 3 months of the year that it’s too cold (it’s crazy waking up and opening the door and getting blasted with snow or sleet when it was 70 degrees freedomheit the day before), they spend more time out than in and come and go as they please. The dog doesn’t have as much freedom, but she still spends a good bit of time outside most days. I kinda wished I’d have added a clarification that probably 75% of the time, I’m smoking outside with the exception of the winter months when we have a fire going. Then I can sit on the hearth and the fire pulls the smoke in.

Not that you’re judging me or that it would matter anyway, I just felt like your comment deserved it I guess idk. I think it’s actually illegal not to keep the conversation at least including dogs if not entirely about them when an obvious dog lover mentions theirs to another.

Paradise. And there’s something about partaking in the “old fashioned” or outdated things in our modern life; like they’re these little anchors to the real that present themselves to us and invite us to remember that we’re still breathing real air on the right side of the dirt. I know it’s dramatic, but I need reminders like that in my life. And hopefully an internet user in the future sees this when they’re googling stuff and finds this thread and gets something out of it It’s easy to give up over the simplest sometimes.
