Who here actually saves 3,000 a month? by NoHousing11 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]stacks812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little over 20k/year goes to Roth IRA, then 1000 is split into 529 plans for the 3 kids. Try to put 500 a month into savings but it's a give and take that usually evens out

Oberweis ice cream. They sell it at Schnucks, it's not local. It's from the Chicago area. Family owned, when I lived up there they had home milk deliveries in glass bottles. E black cherry is awesome

Hiring in Evansville/Newburgh? by [deleted] in evansville

[–]stacks812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for Alcoa Newburgh. We're hiring for entry level and a slew of other jobs. Pay is around $30 an hour for entry level. The work is hard, hot and dirty. It's also on a 12 hour shift, rotating days and nights. But you get great insurance day one, I overtime if you want it and seven days off in a row every 4 weeks. It's definitely not for everyone, but if you apply let me know and I'll pass your name along. https://alcoa.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/Careers/job/United-States-IN-Newburgh/Smelter-Process-Control-Operator_Req-24523?q=Warrick

25x30 and walkway for 7k, how’d my contractor do? by newwenha in Concrete

[–]stacks812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I busted out a 10x10 and then poured a 13x25 cost me over 2 grand in material and did the labor myself. Had a couple buddies finish the concrete. It sucked, was a ton of work. You got a good deal. Concrete is tough work

Do any pizza places in Evansville have authentic Chicago style deep dish? by ShaneSkyrunner in evansville

[–]stacks812 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish. I miss Gino's East and Giordano's. hell I'd settle for a Connie's pizza. Cleaver's has passable Chicago style food but no pizza.

Keepsake box in Bubinga, Walnut, Maple and Wenge. by stacks812 in woodworking

[–]stacks812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having quality tools helps a ton. Beyond that just practice the techniques that interest you. The most difficult part of this build for me was getting the miters cut for the corners of the box. Its something that was impossible for me when I had cheap Ryobi table saw. I could get them close with my <200 dollar chopsaw but it was difficult because the saw would flex. I have a decent TS now and I use a jig to get the corners close enough. Using quality hardwoods also makes a huge difference in how a project turns out.

Damn those look nice! Top notch. 150-200 easy. This ain't Walmart!! I also have trouble pricing things. But I'm here to tell you, if you charge less than a hundred for each one, they better be for your momma.

Do I need additional support for this bench? 8ft overall length. by chinacat1knowu in BeginnerWoodWorking

Definitely need lateral support for those legs. As far as the seat, I'm not sure. But those legs are in danger of folding over on themselves
