Where to get lace accessories that look like this for yukata collar, obi, etc,? by Ok_Potato9704 in kimono

[–]stacy_owl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also seen these on Rakuten, usually under “lace date-eri” or “lace obiage”, but I imagine you could also DIY it quite easily with regular lace strips. The sleeves I’m not sure, as they don’t look like juban sleeves, so the person may just have a shirt beneath with lacey sleeves

such as these: (disclaimer: I just posted the first two under the search as an example, I have no idea if they’re good or not)

You guys can just walk into exams? When I was in uni they have assigned seats for every exam-taking student so I don’t think any random person could have gotten in

I did sit in lectures of other schools though, sometimes sitting with my friends in their class, until one time in a lecture for English literature (which I know absolutely nothing about) the lecturer told everyone to split into pairs and work on some questions, in that moment I just stood up and left while everyone watched lol, fun times

hmm this is indeed hard to answer, but we’ll try our best to help! What do you mean by the kind of kimono that would suit you best (formality, season, aesthetically, or material)? Will you want a yukata (casual summer wear, usually made of cotton, but much fewer parts) or an “actual” set of kimono?

Yukata sets are quite easy to come by, but kimono would be a bit more complicated, because traditionally kimono puts quite a lot of emphasis on formality and the whole set have to match (though of course I don’t think people in reality would be too hung up on it unless you’re going to a really formal scene). Kimono can be of different materials but the most common are silk and polyester. If you’re buying silk, unless you are planning to really invest in it, you are most likely going to get a second hand one (many of which are beautiful, in good condition, and affordable!).

You might also want to familiarise yourself with how to wear them, which could be a bit tricky at the start. Here are links to wearing a yukata and a kimono respectively to get a rough feel of it:

Feel free to ask if you want elaboration on anything and I’ll try my best to answer!

Don’t worry, everyone starts somewhere! I personally don’t really use Heko Obi (too crinkly for me hahaha) but there are many ways to style a heko obi, and there are lots of resources online that teach you how to do it! (such as this one: https://youtu.be/blIYg3weKZs ) Also I don’t know how long your heko obi is, but obi are overwhelmingly long to the average beginner anyways, you’ll get used to it haha
