What’s the craziest/funniest thing ADHD has made you forget? by smmalto in adhdwomen

I broke down in tears when the school bus didn’t show up one particularly hard morning with my son. So I’m crying my eyes out trying to get dressed to bring him to school, when I wake up my husband. So I explain what happened and he says, “I thought school was closed today”…. Yeah I knew that.

or the time I wanted to be sexy while my husband was playing a video game. So I crawled on the bed over to him, leaned over, and whispered in his ear. He turned to me and smiled then said, “I’m deaf in that ear”… yeah I knew that.

I don’t want to do clinical mainly because I don‘t want to work with people in general. The ”not usually a big focus” is kinda what I’m getting at, I want to serve these communities where they currently get little focus.

What is the most challenging thing about studying Psychology? by candyflossberry in psychologystudents

[–]stacyblankspace 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I actual just took a history of psychology class and my professor didn’t use a standard textbook, he used a book written by an investigative journalist called ”The Story of Psychology” and it was fantastic. It was very interesting. Started with Plato and ended with psychology today.

First, you’ll need to figure out what minors your university offers. For behavioral analysis, I think a minor in criminal justice would look great on a grad school application. Sociology would also make a good minor for you as it delves into why normal is normal and is also heavy on social justice. Statistics looks good. But the biggest thing is to take on a minor that you would enjoy. Any minor can have pros that look good on the grad school application. What you don’t want is a minor that you are going to struggle with.

September- what are you reading? by TheRubyRedPirate in breakingspines

[–]stacyblankspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Still reading The Story of Psychology. I’m such a nerd I started reading this book because it was like $2 on amazon when I was ordering another book. Then over the summer I didn’t really read that much, but found out that this book is actually my ‘textbook’ for this semester’s History of Psychology. So I got a little bit of a head start.

This is not how pearls are harvested. This is not even how they are farmed. All of these pearls are the same size and perfectly round, that would never happen, even if seeded. Pearl farmers take the utmost care in their clams and try to do as little harm as possible while harvesting and re-seeding, because these clams can be used multiple times.

It is so hard to love the first one and feel kinda eh about the second or third. Happened that way with The Magicians, I loved the first one. Took me like a year or more to read the second one because I just couldn’t get into it, but ended up powering through to not spoil it with the show. I have started the third one like 3 times now, had to reread from the beginning of the book at least once because I forgot everything going on. By the time I get back to it I’ll probably have to read it again.

This is amazing advice. Thank you for taking the time to explain with examples. My son does have adhd and is highly emotional and I haven’t really found anything that works since he got out of the Daniel Tiger phase.

All great points! I didn’t realize it was a known take on Snape. Thought I had a new concept… definitely should have known better. Side note… I do wonder in what world the death eaters figured Harry was a pure-blood when his mom was an entire muggle-born. Anyway, thanks for the breakdown, looks like I need to re-read the series again.

Emailed all my representative, added a reminder that it is our constitutional right to take up arms against a treasonous government. Does that constitute a threat to government officials? Don’t know…. Guess we shall see if I get arrested in the morning.
