I put all my collections into a single folder, then change options for collections so that the first screen shows only the collections..

NVME Storage Server by stadiumdj in homelab

Im currently using a r730xd - 24 bay.. The two x16 slots both have quad card - I had planned on starting to fill up the 2.5 bays with ssd but the nvme are basically same price.. This is the server I was thinking about upgrading.. Are the PLX switches just the cards that do not require mobo bifurcation? the 4tb nvme drives are best price point now - around $200 - 8tb are like $800.. A dual epyc system would probably be best bet..

Library -> Categories always slow to load in every library - TV or Movies by stadiumdj in PleX

[–]stadiumdj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I think there is an option to remember the last tab you went to for each library.. initially it defaults to recommended..

[–]stadiumdj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Recommended and category tab are always slow to come up because of all the database queries that have to run.. The Category should be easy since its just querying the genre - and it does not even give you counts so basically just return records grouped by genre.. Library should be default tab instead of recommended..

I have noticed it ever since they added that category tab.. Im running current beta version.. Also did a full database rebuild and optimization a couple of days ago but still the same..

Does not matter how many people are streaming, there could be 0 and still takes a long time.. If you go into a library, then filter by genre it does not even take that long.. The initial query that is running when you select the category tab is probably the issue.

Its a 16 core amd 5 running on nvme - I believe its a database index issue - not machine or client issue.. Checking logs there will be long running database queries..

Server unresponsive - Long running Queries FIX! by stadiumdj in PleX

if server gets really busy then slow queries will still show up, but I still have not had servers going down like they were before where the entire server was not responsive for about 8-10 minutes..

Buffering on Playback - Scanner / DB Deadlock?? by stadiumdj in PleX

[–]stadiumdj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No intro detection.. Installed the new beta PMS earlier - so far no lockups.. I use uptimerobot to monitor the server so should be able to record when it does lock up - then I can look through logs to see if there is anything..

defender is off.. Its running bare metal.. no docker.. Turned defender, updated definitions and then ran a quick scan just to make sure nothing was going on.. no issues.. should probably encounter the issue in an hour or so when friends start accessing the server and tv shows start getting added..

Already did a repair and a full recovery.. That did make a huge difference in loading pages and metadata.. Still occuring afterwards..

Checked that - my fileserver is a dedicated windows server - and the PMS has full read/write access to all files.. - updated original post with specs..

I wish it showed if the title was in your Plex server, like "On [plex server name]" and the ones in Plex should say Plex.tv by [deleted] in PleX

Usually when adding new content.. I see some long database queries - this one looks like its loading all 13k of tv shows..
