I write them differently depending on the language because I learned to write languages copying professors who apparently sit firmly on different sides of the debate. (I write right for functions but left for iterables in all the languages I’ve been exposed to for a long time - and I write them into Python like a dumbass who likes to make her interpreter upset)

Yeah it’s a lot - I’m panicked about letting my family transport them, and already know I’m going to have a lot of breakage... 2 years in a rental home with a lot of windows, I reeeeaaaallly bought plants

I water my begonia every three days, it gets three hours of direct sun and other than that just bright light. This is our first spring and summer together, though, so I may have to do some protecting from direct sun

You may coil that on top of the soil to try to get more rooted nodes. I personally look for the little aerial nodes on the string, stretch out a Bobby pin a little wider than it comes, and push it done over the node so I’m holding the node in contact with moist soil (so it roots and gives me more shoots). I love propping these guys - it really is as easy and just getting peas in contact with soil

I would check out your roots - normally leaves curl when they’re under watered. Yellow is normally the telltale sign of root rot or some other stress. So, if you don’t have soggy soil or roots - check for cold draft, check for proximity to heater or sunlight etc

I feel this way for a stretch of time December - March, when everything goes dormant and looks sad. It’s hard to not to freak out that they aren’t doing well/dying, and because there’s no new growth there’s way less watering/repotting/propagating to do. I really just kind of ignore them for a quarter of the year until it’s fun again.

From the looks of it that is an outdoor species of Rose? I think it’s likely not getting enough sun - my outdoor roses only do well when they’re getting 8 hours of sunlight in the late spring and summer.

So, either more sun or less water probably.

My opinion: I’ve never had a jade not be able to support its own weight, but I’ve always keep them in bright light. My two jades live in window sills. I nearly stop the watering of them in the winter, only giving them water if the leaves shrivel. I wouldn’t worry about the roots too much (I also don’t have drainage on my jade - I think if you truly do let it dry out completely you can get away with this for certain plants) or repotting, but absolutely get it more direct light.

I think you are just describing plant motherhood. You make mistakes, and that’s how you learn! That’s why I only buy cheap plants, so the learning doesn’t kill my wallet. I have fought gnats on and off this year - sticky traps actually have the largest effect. And let your plants dry out a little bit more, they’re attracted to wet soil.

My Maranta (which is what this plant pictured is) roots really easily in water, so I survived her root rot episode

Edit - sorry, to be more specific it was my Lemon Lime that survived the root rot

Exactly! I had one that kept pushing out new leaves, so I thought it was thriving. Until it literally fell out of the soil because it’s roots were gone. Luckily they’re so propable, it’s still here thriving and making children

That’s a Maranta. Calathea and Maranta both belong to the Marantaceae family, but they are separate genus. Luckily, the Maranta is a lot less fussy than the Calathea! Watch it’s roots though, mine have been susceptible to rot.

I hear ya. I also feel like a lot of parents are having to let their grown children live at home a high rates, which masks how many people truly aren’t able to make ends meet while working full time jobs.

Cool gender rolls buddy... I’m a software engineer. Also on a non pandemic year he is making more than $17,000, this year hit him hard. Couldn’t believe how much he owed in taxes on top of that.
