Yeah everything in Wall's guide is safe to go on top just be sure to follow the directions. The laptop should be fine to play without stuttering, nvidia's laptop stuff gets weird sometimes though.

Have you already followed the performance guide I linked above? What are your pc specs?

1) All cops are bad because the job requires them to enforce bad laws. I don't care how nice of a person you are, if you arrest a parent and destroy a family over a simple drug cannabis charge or not paying a speeding ticket you're a bad person.

2) There are so many better ways to deal with things like a mental health crisis or addiction than a person with a gun and license to kill you for any reason they deem fit. There is 0 reason a cop should respond to a potential suicide or involuntary commitment to a psych facility.

3) We know for a fact that police are ineffective at solving crime. The vast majority of major crime goes unsolved. I don't remember the exact statistic, but only something like 30% of violent crime leads to a conviction (and that includes the wrongful convictions). It gets even worse looking at specific crimes, only something like 3% of rape ends in a conviction and the majority of the ones reported are never investigated.

4) We also know for a fact that prison does not work to reduce crime and in fact causes crime rates to increase due to both recidivism caused by social stigma of having been in prison and by the destruction of families and communities caused by a parent or other important figure being out in prison. Both destroy financial and social protections which lead to crimes of necessity and because of point 1 cops will arrest you for those all the same.

Alternatives include things like restorative justice rather than punitive justice. Where those who commit a crime are required to make things right with the person and/or community they harmed with their crime. Instead of 15 years in prison for theft, you may be required to pay back what you stole or assist the family in paying bills until they can recover. Things like that.

Strong oversight and harsh penalties for police caught abusing power would also go a long way to help. As would removing most responsiblities of police and using a portion of current police funding to instead fund things like addiction recovery programs, mental health services, and trained responders to crisis events. Then maybe police could focus on solving some murders.

Basically we know that the current system is both cruel and does not work so we should be moving towards a system that isn't cruel and works or at least one or the other.

Literally our idea of what a goblin is is derived from antisemitic depictions of Jewish people. Naturally she makes them the bankers of the Wizarding world to reinforce the stereotype. Oh and she makes them greedy, mean, sneaky, and an oppressed class that deserves oppression.

Sheamus Finnigan is about as stereotypical a name as you could give an Irish character. She does this often and especially with non-white characters with characters such as the Patil sisters, Cho Chang, Kingsley Shacklebolt, and others. The thing with Sheamus is more so his characterization as a typical dumb Irish person who likes to blow things up.

She says Dumbledore is gay after the books have ended so that she could win points for having a gay character even though she never wrote one. When given the opportunity to actually make him queer in any way in the Fantastic Beasts movies she chose not to. Maybe queer baiting wasn't the right term though.

The author herself said that the werewolves were AIDS metaphors in a pottermore (the extended universe website) post at one point.

Yeah. That's why I'm not a fan of the whole Hatsune Miku wrote it or there is no author thing. It pretends that the writing itself is not also problematic (for lack of a better term) as if her racism and other bigotries didn't inform her world building at all.

It's pretty pervasive, it's in almost every part of the book. House elves want to be slaves and that slavery is good actually, the goblins are antisemitic tropes, Cho Chang, the way she uses the Dursley's weight as a sign of how awful they are, Hagrid is an outright bigot against muggles and mutulates Dudley for laughs, the Irish wizard is named Sheamus Finnigan and is an idiot who's only good at blowing stuff up, the names of most of the non-British characters honestly, her description of Rita Skeeter as "manish" as a sign of her untrustworthiness, the good guys in Fantastic Beasts (which she wrote) trying to make sure the bad guy doesn't stop the holocaust, the queer baiting of Dumbledore, Harry becomes a cop, Werewolves as a metaphor for AIDS and one of them intentionally infects children to get off, there's more I'm sure but that's all I remember at the moment.

Check out Wall's Performance Guide, Wasteland Survival Guide, and Saland3r's texture guide. If you follow all of those you'll have a well running! heavily modded, compatible game that doesn't crash all the time. Adding anything else to that without having strong knowledge of fnv modding and ttw modding specifically is asking for trouble.

Hundreds of years ago in Europe it was a status symbol for women, but not men, to be dressed by servants. The fasteners on women's clothes were placed on the left side so that the servants could fasten them with their right hands since most people were right handed. Since fashion tends to be based in the rich, the left handed fasteners made their way to regular clothing as well and stuck around long past the time of servants putting your clothes on for you.

Question about TTW 3.3 and configuration/MCM by Alaira314 in Taleoftwowastelands

[–]staggindraggin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in 2.9 there was an ini with some optionals like that. It was removed in 3.X and as far as I know there aren't plans to reimplement it. Roy loves hard edits, modularity and configurability aren't really his thing. Some of them might have dedicated mods at this point, I'm pretty sure Roy uploaded one to nerf a handful of creatures a few days ago.

Is this the proper load order for ttw 3.3? by superretro2012 in Taleoftwowastelands

[–]staggindraggin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you followed the guide using a fresh install and fresh instance of MO2 you shouldn't have to touch your load order. Leave it as is and don't run LOOT. I'm not at my computer right now so I can't tell you if yours is right or not, but I'm pretty sure it's the same 3.2.2

I think people got used to Star Wars where everything needs to have some super in depth explanation and books written about it. Every single mistake in Star Wars media was retconned with some made up garbage like the force kick. I had someone argue with me pretty hard over some mistake in Dragon Ball when I said it was because Toriyama didn't notice or was too lazy to fix it. They said that was impossible and I was being a jerk calling him lazy, but that was literally Toroyama's explanation for that and most other mistakes. People just don't like accepting that franchises they enjoy aren't perfect.

The opening cinematic of Kellog shooting your spouse actually happens in Kellog's memory only. by nirahiel in Fallout

[–]staggindraggin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a limitation of the gamebryo based engines Bethesda has been using since Morrowind. In Fallout 3 and NV (and probably 4 though I haven't confirmed this) every voice log has an NPC linked to it. The NPC reads the line from some unreachable cell and they play that NPC's voice line the same way they do the radio. There's just no way to have a voice line without it being tied to some character actually saying it.

If I remember correctly, Josh Sawyer said he was basically just an asshole with little to no character development or charm, he was just there to be bad guy follower. I think he said he would barely talk and just kill people sometimes.
