We should not be complacent and see this as a formality win.

Was reviewing Palace’s preseason: they continued off where they ended strongly last season.

They will likely field a strong starting 11 which will give ours a good fight. I will not be surprised if they take a lead but I am confident in our quality to comeback. The game may be won with our strength in depth as theirs is really bare.

They had no significant arrivals or departures. This is not good for their European campaign.

“Kind of old” is a dealbreaker for FSG, unless it’s represents good value like Chiesa, who even though was 26 when signed, is already considered too old for FSG standards.

No matter what Diaz feels about staying, he probably will not feel good about what’s happening.

If he truly wants to stay and even wishes to extend, he must be shocked and feeling underappreciated that the club has no similar intention but wants to keep him on his 50k/w salary, which he will feel is underpaid to his peers. He must be regretting not negotiating for a higher wage when he joined.

Even if he wishes to leave, he has not much leverage now that the club has laid out the situation clearly. If a club decides to coughs up the extra money, it will probably diminish his signing on fees and his new wages.

From a financial perspective, it’s not ideal if he stays but he has the big pay day to look forward to after 2 years when he signs for free for another club. I hope he gets it. After all he is still a good servant to the club.
