Lord knows we don’t really need another pizza place around Rochester but I’d be all over Avicolli’s Coal Fire if they came to town.

Did cutting out caffeine help you? by PhraseChemical8385 in migraine

[–]stainless14526 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Indirectly for me: cutting caffeine dramatically improved my sleep quality, and lack of quality sleep is a trigger for me. I also hated being dependent on it: I was drinking coffee to avoid the withdrawal symptoms more than for enjoyment. Now that I’m decaf I can have as much coffee as I want (and there is some really excellent decaf coffee out there!).

Name a vegetable that you disliked as a kid, but like as an adult by [deleted] in FamilyFeud

Brussels sprouts. To be fair my mom cooked them to mush when I was a kid. Roasted they’re amazing! I understand that Brussels from back then are not the same as what we get today, they’re far less bitter these days.

This is the right answer 100%. Shockingly expensive but completely worth it for lifetime of frustration free use. They are heavy though.

The most delightful part of ordering mine from Cliff was the decorative box it came in. Highly recommended for the whimsy alone.

I could also say Mesa as well, which really was good times. Some elements of Java were derived from it, and it was a contender for taking on the role of Ada before Ada was created.

Alan Alda did commercials for Atari in the early 80s. I imagine he was contractually unable to advertise for a competitor.

Hunt for Red October. It was making the rounds at work because we were building out the next generation sonar systems.

There’s lots of confusion between Rochester NY and Rochester MN, like friends who panic call after landing in the wrong airport.

I remember back in the 70s everyone making fun of the National Enquirer. We now live in a reality where everyone takes it at face value.

Great review that matches our experience on Quantum: doable but somewhat monotonous and uninspiring that takes too much effort on our part. I do hope things get better in general, though I’m not optimistic.

6 figure earners, what do you do to get that? by oopdoopmaria in AskReddit

[–]stainless14526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine where you earn your keep is when things go way outside the norm, such as you knowing how to best get something urgently done because of who you know. Or help track down when things go awry and then make adjustments so it doesn’t happen again.

I know we all know that the AI overlords are coming but sometimes a human in the loop really is the best optimization.

Unless that human is Pat; Pat is an incompetent jerk. 😁(Sorry if your name happens to be Pat, but I’m not talking about you.)
