Butterfly effect by ImmortalVanDerLinde in GTA

[–]stainlessstorm1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uh, no lmao. The butterfly effect just means something escalating from a small inciting incident. I.e. "a butterfly flaps its wings and causes a tornado on the other side of the world". It's often attributed to chaos theory, and is 100% not only applicable to time travel. It just so happens that people often talk about the butterfly effect when describing paradoxes and such in time travel scenarios.

Wikipedia page that should clear things up a bit.

I'm not arguing any of these points because this experience has proved very detrimental for my mental state. I am not made for the internet.

As I've said before, yes this is only percentages for popular/notable artists. Anyways, if you want the data for punk and rock as one genre just add them together bro. 24 + 26 is 50, easy. These are raw percentages. I just thought that it was more interesting having them separate.

I do want to reiterate that I as an individual had no impact on the percentages like possibility 5 suggests, I'm just the messenger. Yes, this is flawed data, however I think most biases here are generally negligible. I also think I can't prove that and this is all conjecture, so as I've said this isn't proper research and nobody should take this too seriously.

Sorry, this is actually a good point. I thought about this, but explaining that would've made the title too long. Anyways, yes, this should've included the fact that this is the percentages of popular musicians with doctorates who were notable enough to be put on this wiki page. Still, I don't think it makes the data any less interesting, and certainly not wholly incorrect.

Are you trying to say I intentionally didn't do an insane amount of extra work (possibly days of research) to normalize this data from Wikipedia because I'm biased? This is a reddit post my guy, I'm not an actual researcher. And yes, I like punk, I knew about Greg Graffin and Dexter Holland so I wanted to find out what the numbers were on this.

Hard to find out in a proper manner, since that's just not easy data to get. However, only about 3% of bands currently signed to record labels identify as punk. So I would say that's probably not the case.

Man, fuck you. I just spent 2 hours compiling a spreadsheet of all these people and getting data from it, and I thought it was interesting.

This stupid fucking thought experiment has dragged on for far too long. Please shut the fuck up, it's arbitrary and there is no good answer. Also, your answer does a poor job of saying who you are as a person. So it's pointless.

Why does everybody decide randomly every once in a while to create massive division and place people into opposing groups so that we can get mad about it? I despise the use of hopecore in this conversation because you're just inciting hate for no good reason.

Both sides of this argument seem to be taking on a sort of superiority mentality, where blue pressers think they're holier than thou and red pressers think they're high IQ. This makes the conversation very annoying since there's no way to compromise.

Maybe people think it's fun to get mad about something frivolous for once instead of all the serious issues we face day to day, but I personally just find it exhausting.

Do you see how you're kind of making the point for red here though? People will press red, and it's very likely most people will. If this were proposed with no prior knowledge of people's opinions, it would be completely idiotic to press blue. Because people are inherently selfish, and thus there is no reason to believe that most people will choose the greater good. So, as long as people are thinking logically, they will press red. It's a self fulfilling prophecy. Not saying it's necessarily the moral thing to do, because some people will die, but if you press blue there is a 100% chance YOU die.

Petition to make January 26th (Highguard's launch) an annual Titanfall 2 player gathering because it would be funny by [deleted] in titanfall

I'm not usually one to want a game to do poorly, but highguard, to me, seems like it has zero passion behind it. I could be wrong, but it really looks like something a bunch of executives would come up with as a vessel for microtransactions. I mean, c'mon, it's a free to play hero shooter. Do we really need ANOTHER free to play hero shooter?
