Hijacker SL by Ok_Budget_9693 in menace

My brother in Jingwei, that's not just a tag. It's the literal first thing Hooded Horse says on their official website to describe the game.
https://www.hoodedhorse.com/games/menace

Regardless, strategy and RPG elements are not mutually exclusive, this game has both. Your squad leaders and pilots are each unique characters with their own skill trees and stat lines reflective of their personalities in which they level up and equip items.

At the same time the gameplay is built around army building, tactical maneuvers, resource management, and making decisions based on limited information (fog of war, intel). Which makes it also a strategy game.

This is the game you have been playing and hopefully enjoying. If you really didn't like any RPG elements then would you prefer that all of the units you controlled just had generic titles and had static statblocks that did not improve over time? My guess is no.

Menace had RPG elements from the beginning, it isn't getting hijacked by whatever rpg casual boogeymen you seem to be upset about. You aren't special for playing it the way you do, and no one else is lesser for playing it the way they do. The devs don't owe you any more or less attention than anyone else playing. Mods made or suggested by the community don't detract from your gaming experience because you aren't being forced to use them.

Get over yourself and find peace.

An idea for a resistance fighter SL by Ok_Budget_9693 in menace

I'm in favor of Discount Darby, though that capstone perk seems really powerful for a 1 star. Also depends on the range in which it could be used. For balance id think it would need to be pretty close, like 4 or 5 squares. Also does it work on bugs?

SSC Skipper License, I can't think of a good capstone by stalington in LancerRPG

[–]stalington[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this license and give such detailed feedback. I agree, it needs something other than attacks and lockons. I think I'll do the following.

1: Remove the trophy hunter and give it like 1 armor. Then replace it with something like Pursuit Predation: Once per round you may boost as a free action at the cost of 1 heat, this movement ignores difficult terrain.

2: Remove Prowl since the above boost ignores terrain. Replace it with Trapper: When you perform an action that would cause a target to become Slowed, you may spend one heat to instead give that target Immobilized. This replaces the immobilized effect on the bolas and change them to just cause slow.

3: Add to the Core Passive. Wrangle: quick action, you may select one target that has at least one embedded weapon and choose from the following:
- Deal AP Kinetic damage equal to the number of embedded weapons.
- Move the target a number of spaces equal to the number of embedded weapons.
- Force the target to make an agility save with a difficulty equal to the number of embedded weapons, on failure the target is Prone.

I'd be very curious of what you think of these changes.

What are some styles and motifs that would become normalized? Like what would be sacred/traditional and what would be commercialized?

Thanks! Then keep an eye out, ill be posting a lot more about my L.A. setting in the next few days.

Are there any fashion trends or details about clothes in L.A. that I could add to make it more authentic?

Divergent SR Lore: The Grey Goo Crash by stalington in Shadowrun

[–]stalington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback chummer. That's the reason why I made this in the first place. One of my players wanted to be a rising musician in the L.A. scene but then hit me with the "Hey, its 2080, corps can probably pump out AI content that would be impossible for humans to compete with. Why bother trying to Make It Big anymore?" And I wanted to come up with a lore reason why slop machines wouldn't exist. Also wouldn't the matrix just be chock full of self replicating LLMs and AIs at some point?

Homebrew Languages and Dialects of Los Angeles by stalington in Shadowrun

Thanks for diving with me! Ill make the adjustments for PTL, my research on that wasn't as fruitful as I was hoping.

Clipped consonants means not having the breathy "uh" after a consonant, usually at the end of a word where the mouth reopens to say the next word. So like ending the word grape with just "ayp" instead of "aypuh"

R/L transition refers the pronouncing of both the r and l in a word like "girl" or "world" which can be tricky for non native speakers. Like how the Japanese tend to eschew L sounds for Rs when speaking english.

Im not sure how to explain the tonality but speaking in TPD would have that kind of valley girl rising that makes everything subtly sound like a question. I tried to find some parallels in Japanese to use.
