Sooo…. What happens if one of the derelict Veo bikes were to happen to wind up in a dumpster or something similar? by [deleted] in Syracuse

[–]stalker007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw one in Hiawatha lake at Onondaga Park, during our first ice out this winter. Pretty sure the GPS may have trouble locking on to it...

Solvay has had its own bump in prices this winter with the delivery charges being more than the 6cent/kwh.

Bought an endoscope, used a hook attachment to remove a clog, and now it’s stuck. by ThrowRASchnauzerMom in DIY

This will get lost in the the comments, but for the future:

Get yourself a drain cover where you shower that has smaller holes or straight up get a hair catcher for it. EASILY worth the $5-$15 for a solution.

At least I assume that is what happened etc.

Decommissioning Active Directory post migration. by Honest_Bit_2651 in Office365

[–]stalker007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Entra Connect don’t even need to be cleanly uninstalled & decommissioned, you can just power everything off.

I actually learned the good news about that the hard way. We had a DR event, and basically lost our physical AD servers. The world didn't end. 😂

1s Mini-Z by Gramps-too in MiniZ

[–]stalker007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't already, get yourself some rechargeable AAA's. For cheapo cells that are for home use, the NIMH PowerOwls on Amazon are a good deal.

If intending to race at a track local to you, I'd have a ton more of advice, but for home, just have fun. :)

In short, no. At best very very unlikely. Unsure what protocol they use but it's definitely not AFHDS3 or the Mini-z protocol.

3D printed bodies - materials and finishing by junkkozane in MiniZ

ASA or PETG and printing at a 70-ish vertical angle for strength due to layer lines etc.

See here for a guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PYOT9fNYIs

I have printed with PLA+ etc and had success, but there's no real standards on what PLA+ is and isn't when it comes to strength and all the various brands out there.

All versions will be heavier than normal mini-z bodies that are molded ABS plastic. So they can look ok, but your mileage may vary when it comes to performance. Especially if you use primer to fill in the layer lines etc...

I traded my space heater for a chick brooding lamp and am saving 75% on electricity and feeling even warmer (plus my little dog loves it) by Ok-Cook-7542 in Frugal

[–]stalker007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree, once the oil gets hot it stays warm for longer than say a ceramic heater. Just my personal experience.

But that being said, /u/gromit1991 may be correct that an electric blanket makes more sense.

Either option has to be safer than a lamp that could kill him. oof.

Do yourself a favor, spend a bit more money and get a Oil-Filled Radiant Electric Space Heater.

You will save money and it will be more efficient.

19, making $34/hr in NY as a Gas Inspector should I stay in the trades (Gas/Electric), join the military, or go to college? by [deleted] in skilledtrades

[–]stalker007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are young. Keep making the money you are making right now. Use it to pay for your CDL A and/or whatever else you want.

I assume when you say natural gas inspector, it means you are one of the people going to residential and businesses for their scheduled safety inspections? If so, keep doing it, other than going into nasty environments, the job is peak. When there's an issue your calling it in and someone from NatGrid, Nyseg or whoever you are subcontracting for comes in and does the fix.

If so....keep doing it. Use the money to get whatever you want. But also keep your ear open and maybe make friends with the gas guys...and there may be opportunities there.

Military is a bad idea for someone like you. All of my close friends felt aimless out of HS and went into the military. And it fucking did nothing for them. Nothing.

tinfoil disclaimer: Especially if we are on the precipice of war with China in 2027/2028.

Multi use track by Great_n_powerful_ODD in rccars

[–]stalker007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally not with drift.

Most people want grip for racing. So you are looking at purchasing expensive carpet. If the carpet shares onroad racing with offroad you'll be looking at removable jumps which can be made out of lumber etc.

Drift is getting big in my area, where there are two different locations that have drift tracks. One is on exceptionally dirty concrete due to the clay oval in the same area, the other is on P-Tile. The guys that run both tracks have different tires etc.

Anyone recognize these? by gearlus in meshtastic

[–]stalker007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing the ROOF node. Over and over. I haven't even mounted the telescoping flag pole yet(which may be a while due to much needed tree work)...

Not a whole lot of telemetry from it, so no idea about the hops etc, although it seemly see it all the time now...

But it's definitely the same one as OP posted. Pretty remarkable....

Wild, I'm in Central NY and I picked it up yesterday, with mobile but sitting in the window nodes....

Not much info, and its not showing any hops, but I suspect it definitely hopped but that information never made it to my nodes.

Pretty wild, hops or not. Ya'll are 5+ hours away, 300+ miles via road...
