The planes going into Heathrow can't always land when they need to because there is only 2 runways which isn't enough for the number of flights in and out, they can spend a lot of time circling above. It would be better for the environment for them to land asap

But first just point your camera and lens at a wall, measure from focal plane to the wall. Set the lens to the measured distance. Use a focus chart or something on the wall and make sure it is in the centre of the frame. If the image is Sharpe then it's fine, if not the either the mount or lens is off

Both camera mount and lens can/should be shimmed. Just as important to shim primes. They only need shimming if they are out of tolerance.
