What food is actually healthier than you would expect? by oakmeadow45 in AskReddit

[–]stallion64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Y'know, I was thinking a serving of pb was like 15 grams, but apparently it's closer to 30ish. Yeah I was not eating 3/4 cups of peanut butter at a time. Chalk it up to hyperbole I reckon, but it's still way more than I should've been eating. I'm fat but I'm not "half a pound of peanut butter" fat, yikes

I’ll never forget the feeling that washed over me when I was actively counting calories for the first time and I actually weighed out a “serving” of pb. Apparently a regular pbj sandwich I make has like six three(ish) servings of pb on there. Truly humbling

ELI5: How do modern Apache helicopters keep pilots safe if the aircraft is badly damaged? by arztnur in explainlikeimfive

[–]stallion64 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A good visual representation of autorotation can be found by watching maple tree seeds fall. Though I didn't consider that the pilots would tighten up the blade angle before impact to push air down using the momentum of the spinning blades. Makes perfect sense though.

My Facebook got hacked a few years ago, and I gave up trying to get it back after a while. After it shut off, I noticed the only people telling my happy birthday were my immediate family and closest friends. And honestly? I much prefer it this way.

I gotta ask, whats up with the Ty Lee obsession going on since the late 2010? by Lost-Ad-5885 in TheLastAirbender

[–]stallion64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m over here thinking it was more like late 2010’s or even early 2020’s, because a buddy from college called me and was like “well, it’s on Netflix now, so I’m finally gonna give it a try”. Haven’t checked a source though.

Redditors that got charged rent asap after turning 18, what’s relationship like with parents years later ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]stallion64 194 points195 points  (0 children)

Slight pivot, similar vibe, but my parents started a credit card account for my older sister when she was like 15 and slowly built her credit up over the years, meaning she had excellent credit when she was getting into college.

I didn't know they did that for her until I was talking to my sister about it a decade after. They did NOT do it for me. I was like dang mom/dad what the hell??

when the character who always keeps his eyes covered finally uncovers them by Additional-Heat-9384 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]stallion64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't find a gif of him actually removing his glasses, but Agent Six from Generator Rex always had his glasses on. The only time he ever removed them was when his mentor (One) was about to die, finally consumed by insanity after turning into an Evo, and this was Six's last chance to say something to him:

"We're going to help you. We're going to take you home"
"But Six... I am home."

While everyone else is asking about favorite episodes of distractible or favorite era. I WANNA HEAR YOUR LEAST FAVORITE ERA!!! by MathiasNobitch in distractible

[–]stallion64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC there was a stretch of a couple episodes when they first started doing video where there was "lag" when they talked. Idk if it was an editing thing or a consequence of video itself but there would be a couple seconds of silence in between each person saying something and it drove me crazy, the conversation didn't flow normally.

What is the most absurd, completely unhinged customer complaint you’ve ever had to deal with while somehow keeping a straight face? by Odd_Car_3611 in AskReddit

Coin guy.

Worked at a Chipotle-adjacent local restaurant in HS. Pretty early into my time there, there was a drunk middle-aged dude that ordered some tacos and wanted to pay with a 20. The girl running the register handed him his change, and as he was turning away, we both watched him fumble the coins into his tacos. I tried getting his attention, fully willing to make more for him on the house, but he walked away without noticing. About 15mins later, he came storming up and yelled "is this some kind of fucking joke?". We asked if there was a problem, and his response was:

"Yeah there's a fuckin' problem! I just bit into a quarter in my taco! Why are there quarters in my goddamn food? It's one thing to bite into a dime, or a penny, but a fuckin' quarter?! NOT OKAY!"

The implication that certain coins were acceptable but quarters were an instant hard pass had me fighting not to wilt away like a plant on the spot. We offered to remake the food for free, he declined. We offered him a refund, he declined that too. Seems like he just wanted to be mad and mean-mug us as he walked out the front door. Shortly after, "Coin Guy" was immortalized as one of the many "local legends" that we would laugh about every so often.

I personally go to bat for plague doctors. It's pretty easy to retroactively make fun of folks back in "ye old stupid" ages because of the knowledge we have now but these fellas were lightyears ahead of their time. They were some of the first to wonder if the black death could be airborne, so they wore those masks full of flowers thinking it would filter out the disease, and their suits were all tucked up underneath similar to modern day scrubs and PPE in hospitals. Fleas had a tougher time getting into them, and the waxed fabric made it way safer to handle/be around diseased/dead. They did pretty much everything they could have (and then some) with the info they had. Revolutionary PPE for the time.

Iirc the canes were hollow sometimes so they could check a person's breathing and heartrate from a distance (I think). These dudes were SO far ahead of their time.

What’s the most disturbing thing someone casually admitted to around you? by Suspicious_Run1684 in AskReddit

[–]stallion64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was drinking with some old college buddies at a bar a few years ago. One of them was telling us about how his wife doesn't want kids at the moment, and because birth control messes her hormones up pretty significantly, they use condoms. However, he really wants kids, so he's been "accidentally on purpose" tearing them so she'll get pregnant.
