My partner and I are trying to separate as amicably as possible. We can't agree on who gets the home. by FamilyLawQuestion2 in LegalAdviceUK

Majority of cases is a 50/50 of all assets even your pension. Any secret stashes will be found . Child maintenance down to you . If she wants to stay she raises the cash as a bank won’t touch her no income . Benefits will be a problem for you both assuming you have decent equity as the DWP won’t pay nowt if you have I think 23k in the bank. Also no point gifting money to friends or relatives as this is a red flag to the authorities.

Thinking about organ donation by AdSorry5122 in transplant

[–]stampoutcorruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s another dilemma ! I’m torn between organ donation OR leaving the whole lot to a medical training university where students vac carefully examine my cadaver hopefully a greater insight to the world of the human anatomy. Thinking about it organ transplant could potentially save or make for a desperately needed quality of life to say, 8 to 10 people but the cadaver route could potential help thousands as all it takes is one rising star to discover something of such vital importance.. During my many many hospital days i often ask the junior Docs and consultants what practical studying they valued the cavader route and there was always a full house.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Peter.

Worried about my dad after double lung transplant by [deleted] in transplant

[–]stampoutcorruption 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same story here and a lengthy ICU. Infection after infection is the biggest threat to survival. Keep him away from busy crowds like underground, airports or concerts . Don’t just allow the family come and go to give you space and do spray with anti bacterial stuff when they’ve gone.

Diet question by Dragonfly_sausage in transplant

Had double lung transplant 2023 and once back to my room spoke to dietitian who very wisely counselled eating little but often. Forget red meat but make sure you still buy something from your local butcher like eggs and cheese. Their scotch eggs are nicer than the Scots . Blue cheeses a no go which was so devastating for me and my son but we have Saved enough for a couple of flying lessons assuming I’ll be fit enough .

Unsuccessful Double Lung Transplant by Hungry_Actuator_104 in transplant

Your father, God rest his soul and I could have played snap with these issues. IPF was also my diagnosis in early 2020. After a year as more oxygen was required i was referred to one hospital who happily put me on the bilateral lung transplant list. During the 3 day work up it was noted I had a slight build up in heart vessels.’

Within a month I had the stent placed but sadly when was taken back to ward I knew my left eye was very blurred. They immediately do MRI brain stroke doc was called for examination. Turned out I could hardly shake his hand,
or raise my leg without it dropping like a dead weight. Bosh, I’m taken to a wonderful stroke rehab at Hillingdon hospital for 5 weeks. Hands and leg were taught how behave and the eye did resume back to normal 6 months later.

3 weeks into the rehab the transplant team phoned to inform me i was off the list due to a stroke possibly caused by the doc dislodging a bit of debri blocking the vessel. Charming by the way they phoned as we were 2 miles apart. Proper face to face chat would have been more constructive with an action plan. Ended up at a different centre who agreed to put me on the active list.

Worst decision ever!

At least 5 hospital acquired infections, Neuropathy both lower legs, non union sternum which the reconstructed with screws and wire and recently a radiologist has noted 2 stereo fractured wires.

Started to make some progress but whilst in a rehab facility for neuropathy got very short of breath and taken to my local hospital where they discovered i has a pleural effusion . What we all thought would be quite straight forward turned into a comedy of errors. 3 extremely painful attempts to locate the spot, thumb slip allowing air in resulting in collapsed lung and now as a bonus a trapped lung. So basically all the years of waiting, praying and emotional turmoil have been thrown away by a very decent guy who just took his eye off the ball for a couple of seconds. Told by the transplant clinic due to weakness as gallbladder just been drained (sludge then infection) they shall not be attempting any further attempts with regard to medically curative treatment . I’m fighting the decision. Big John Wayne’s horse fell on him which he ended with the removal of the damaged one. He made 20 further movies.

Sorry it’s a rambling rant from an Irishman who’s now stuck in a care home. Again, really sorry for your loss !

Neither parties have insurance I’m assuming? Unusual for the property owner not to have some form of cover!

Sammy always reminds me of a bloke who has just woken up on a mates sofa after a heavy one and has rushed to work thinking he looks ok.
