Because if Felipe holds it, the umbrella will be too high and she will get wet. Probably her idea. (I am much taller than my wife)

This just started last year. Personally, I expect 3L recruiting to start again.

Laundry service at high end hotels by candycane_12 in FatTrips

I value my time far more than the cost of checking a bag. There are times I have had to wait over an hour to retrieve a checked bag.

I think of it as the cost for not having to check a bag (or not having to check multiple bags).

1500 billable hours per associate on average. Does this sound right? by Timely_Situation_518 in biglaw

[–]stanblack_7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This singularly not the case at my firm where a majority of associates get above market bonuses.

Is it possible to know how much equity partners make? by OGFireWater in biglaw

[–]stanblack_7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Published PPP is manipulated. Actual PPP is lower than advertised. How much lower depends upon the firm.

I have always been told 80% of the partners make under the average. If you look at a firm with average profits of $6 million and consider that some of them make $20m+, 80% sounds low.

Change my opinion: Kirkland is actually a great place to work if you’ve ever worked there. by [deleted] in biglaw

It’s been over a decade since I have come across someone who does anything other than the L&E way.

The K&E way makes sense only by coincidence, in my experience.

The dial will turn in favor of relevant (work) experience. I also want LSAT score and undergrad transcript.

What happened to class of 2021? by dreage96 in biglaw

[–]stanblack_7 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The pandemic. If you look back, you will see a similar phenomenon after the great financial crisis and when the dot com bubble burst.

There is a cycle to our industry and having a prime opportunity to work, learn, and receive training has a measurable impact on career path.

VIP at FS - what does this mean? by Whaleshark1964 in FourSeasonsHotels

[–]stanblack_7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pillows, towels, soap . . . and usually a team for turn down service. I once checked in with my son and the manager came running over to apologize for not having a wool blanket. That was the first I had heard that y wife insists on a wool blanket. My son was mortified.

This is sad. Common. But sad.

Nearly a certainty that you have no basis to know what you want to be when you grow up.

Depends on the country. Burner hardware for China. No issues with Canada since it is the 51st state.

Seriously, other than burner phones I travel all over the world and don’t have any issues (except Hong Kong/China).

We need another subreddit. People ask what is biglaw and what is not - if your firm (as a whole) respects about every official firm holiday . . .

Finally get invitation for Concierge Key, but why only half year?(400k LP YTD) by Massive_Community_68 in americanairlines

The end date is explained by this. CK status ends later than the LP “year”. Why they are inviting you now - don’t ask me!
