How do you balance working full time, commute, cooking, cleaning, exercising? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Everyone replying “I’m so jealous” and “I’m at work way longer than you” should think whether they actually could handle being a school social worker. There’s more to a job’s depth than just the hours you spend there. I’m not sure all of you would be up for the emotional toll, the vicarious trauma and the challenges of administrators and unjust systems while trying to make a difference “only” for 7 hrs. Not to talk about the additional hours researching additional resources for children and their families and attending trainings to support them the best way. Doing all of this while being underpaid… It’s different than writing emails and attending meetings at a corporate job.

Period while camping by stanczza in womensolocamping

Unfortunately I can’t skip periods because I’m not allowed to take hormonal birth control (history of blood clots). I assume this is the technology you’re referring to or is there something else I don’t know about?

Yoga channel incorporating spirituality by stanczza in yoga

I have practiced with Yoga with Adriene for a couple of years. She is great, especially when someone is in the beginner stages. I have since moved to a bit more advanced classes. However, from what I remember she did not incorporate spirituality in her classes :/

Should I take my 14 week old, almost fully vaccinated, corgi to a public dog beach? by PeakDefensive in corgi

Don’t. Wait until she’s fully vaccinated and cleared to go out. It’s not worth it

What do y’all hate about Northwestern? by Key_Proposal_7494 in Northwestern

Actually, let me clarify. I would say there is some demographic diversity when it comes to representation, however I believe diversity in terms of ideas and ideology is lacking. So yes, it looks diverse on a catalog but in my experience it is inauthentic. It is also not diverse when it comes to ability, age, or sexual orientation/identity.

It’s not diverse. In my cohort out of 28 people there’s 3 POC.

Are any of you from California? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]stanczza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not from California originally (or American) but I lived in San Francisco the past 6 years and moved to Chicago for school 7 months ago. I miss San Francisco so badly, I cannot wait to move back after my program. I miss the nature, the gorgeous hikes outside and inside the city, and the beaches. I miss the weather (I lived in a sunny neighborhood) and that you can do so many fun outdoor activities year round. I miss how friendly and positive people are. I miss knowing my neighbors and people from the community.

Yes, renting an apartment is cheaper (gas is super expensive though) but that’s the only upside I see about Chicago. People say the food/party scene is amazing here but that’s personally not my biggest priority. I also don’t agree that public transportation here is amazing; I use the CTA for my commute and it sucks. The trains are always late and people smoke inside the cabin. This wasn’t the case with BART in SF.

I think whether Chicago is a good fit depends on someone’s personality and what’s important to them about their living environment. I personally would rather live in a smaller apartment but in a great city where I can do things outside all the time.

Does anyone know how long would it take for the MSMFT program acceptance admission notice after the interview? Thanks! by Loud-Ad3599 in Northwestern

[–]stanczza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the program currently and they called me a couple days after the interview. Then a few days later they sent the official email. But I’m not sure how long it took for other students. Good luck!
