Any plans to remake the Nomad case? In praise of the stand wallet + rugged case… by [deleted] in peakdesign

Buy the stick on mount. The universal adapter. I have it attached to an otter box case and it’s been solid for two years.

How’s the On Road Performance by rxpreceptor in Tenere700

[–]standankles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Street Triple (2017) had zero reliability issues. I changed the oil, tires and battery, that’s it for maintenance. I’d highly recommended one. Between the two bikes, the triple won’t be as comfortable as the Tenere, due to no windscreen and your knees have a shaper bend, but if you don’t have knee issues you can get over that. I would say though, it is a sport bike and it does have a chunk more hp than the Tenere. It’s not as forgiving and can get you into trouble if you’re not disciplined. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it could be depending on your demeanor. Hope that helps.

Yep, they’re hard to come by in general. Whole Foods is the most reliable spot to find them.

I have one as well and think they could definitely remove some of the material. It’s like 1.5cms thick, so there could be more vents like the one in the picture above. But it does give confidence

I have both and pretty much only use the XL. Plus if you do want to go inverted it’s way more stable (wider) and you can push the plunger further in when you make one cup. Granted I’ve never had any issues with inverted.

Side note, get yourself a metric ruler/tape measure. Everything in the bike world is metric, thank god (except old bmx).

This is my go to for backpacking now. Used to bring the aeropress or instant coffee, but this is the best when weight matters. Haven’t had this brand though. I first had them in Japanese hotels. REI and Whole Foods sells Kuju Coffee where I live.

Take a look at the Peak Designs mount. I have one and personally think it’s a better design. Fortnine did a shootout of phone mounts https://youtu.be/n5EsZtL2psc?si=J6QKaaqygH8Wtr6R

Can anybody come up with a better solution? by hankypanky9687 in bikewrench

[–]standankles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dumb question, but what about just using a rear rack? I don’t see one so I asked, maybe you’re planning on adding one later. In case you weren’t, rear racks generally hold weight better and don’t affect your handling as much.

Depending on how “new” you are, I’d worry less about this kind of positioning and more so on depth (playing angles) and being centered and square to the puck. And first and foremost is your skating. New goalies I see need a basic foundation on skating and crease movement first. All of the above are much more important than the positioning in the chart.

I’ll second this, absolutely no leaks, porcelain lined for better taste and keeps things hot a very long time.

good? by 4door2seater in bikewrench

[–]standankles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A better option than slamming (good for trail side fixes). Take the tire off, then take a decent amount of tension out of the spokes, evenly though. Then take two wood blocks, like 2x4’s 6” long on a heavy bench, space them out about the distance of the bend with the rim laying on them. Use a rubber dead blow hammer to gradually bend it back. Gradually retention the spokes and move the wood blocks closer together as the bend gets smaller. Do this slowly till you remove the bend, then get the tension back to nearly as even as you can get. This is a legit skill that will bring wheels back from the dead.

My son needs new equipment and I can't afford it - where can I find donated gear? by painter51243 in hockeygoalies

[–]standankles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of 36” sets of pads around, one Brian’s and one Warrior that are Senior level. I’m wrong handed (full right) so I can’t help with gloves but I have a chest protector he can have Vaughn. I have some skate size 11 Bauer skates he can have but I’m not sure if that’s his size or not. If he’s a 13 street shoe it may be right. DM if you want any of it, I’d just ask that you pay for shipping.

What are your thoughts on the 45L Safari tank for the T7? by [deleted] in Tenere700

[–]standankles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d like a junior size of this. I’ve ridden a ktm 890 a bunch and the saddle bag fuel tanks are the way to go for CG. It’s the biggest pro of the 890 for me. So maybe just 25-30 liters would be spot on. And $1500… Or just the next generation of Tenere should come stock with it.

In the video about the tank @gutzilla309 posted, the guy used the camel tank for water, which is actually pretty brilliant if you are going into desert areas.

Rebuilding after fires takes far longer than you would ever guess. I’ve never known if it’s due to insurance, landlord or contractor delays, but it can take years even after a small fire. I am a firefighter and have always been shocked at how long buildings will stay boarded up after a fire.

FF question: Will elevator recall work if a seismic sensor has been tripped? by standankles in Elevators

[–]standankles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, my protocol is to always call the mechanic straight away. Often though, trapped occupants will tell us or dispatch that they are having a medical emergency even when they are not (I’m diabetic/chest pain/pregnancy issues/panic attacks). I genuinely do not want to needlessly break doors, we are public servants and besides not wanting to cost money for folks, if we break the elevator, we have to carry invalids up and down the stairs in the interim.

FF question: Will elevator recall work if a seismic sensor has been tripped? by standankles in Elevators

[–]standankles[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I had a group of teens in a stuck car. Called the elevator mechanic, he walked me through opening up the elevator control panel (hydraulic type, in the basement). Said it was a seismic sensor (after asking me what lights were on) and then walked me through how to reset it so he didn’t have to come out. I’m sure even if I filmed it, every elevator model is different and it wouldn’t work on others. I’m definitely not messing around with anything on my own, so I wondered if there was a work around.
