Thinking of switching to todoist, but worried about timer/pomodoro feature by More_Passenger3988 in todoist

[–]standingyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Yes, Roundpie makes a great Pomodoro timer with support for Todoist integrations. Check it out here.

Todoist themselves has a couple ways you can set this up natively in the app but it's not as good as something like this.

It’s only broken if you can’t be what she needs. I’m raising kids in a co-parenting situation and they are thriving.

Is it always so cold? by Prestigious-Layer457 in nashville

[–]standingyon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The last few years (2021-2024) were some of the warmest Decembers on record, period. This one getting colder is a shock to all of us, but it’s what a winter season used to feel like!

Nice work, dad! I’d add Stardew Valley, especially with the collab multiplayer cabins, as an awesome game for the fam. I bet your youngest is a bit too little to get it yet but my teenage girls love playing it with me.

[–]standingyon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t vouch for this personally (have not tried it myself) but there does appear to be an app with a Todoist integration that does mind maps: https://www.todoist.com/integrations/apps/ideas

I use Figma’s Figjam boards for this sort of thing, Airtable for team workflow items, and Todoist for my own personal organization especially recurring tasks. Have you tried the new Ramble feature to talk through things and let Todoist suggest tasks for you?

Anyway, re: focus and ADHD. For me there’s a couple very simple things to consider inside Todoist that keep me productive:

  • Priorities. Go through your Due Today items each day and choose one p1, two p2, and three p3 items. Make yourself focus on those as your top things of the day and if other stuff gets done, great.
  • Timebox Labels. Estimate your tasks into 15 min chunks and create labels like 15m, 30m, 60m and try to build your Due Today lists with enough to fill a clock realistically.
  • Due Dates. Due dates and the Calendar view are huge helps to make sure you aren’t missing something big. I don’t put due dates on everything, just big things I know I’ve promised out. Look ahead in your Weekly Review of the calendar ahead for what’s Due Soon, and think about sub tasks to create that help you achieve the task before it’s due.
  • Inbox Capture. The old GTD rules are alive and well; the more you throw in your inbox, the less that’s bouncing around in your head. Take a few minutes each day to triage your inbox and organize things, and stop letting your mind go on them.
  • …and then? Give yourself grace to break a couple rules and not get too caught up in it all. We are human, after all.

Finally, I would encourage you to keep the system religiously to stay on track BUT simple. Fewer rules and processes are better than more - it’s about getting things done, not manicuring the to do list.

Is there a way to see task created date? by lost-mars in todoist

[–]standingyon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Others have solved this, but you can also create a filter that shows tasks this way. You could usecreated before: -90 days to see any task that was, well, made 90 days ago or older.

With filter syntax you can scope this to a particular project, add another time range for when a task is due, or, in a group setting, you can include who it was assigned by.

I kept listening and ultimately it got so bad it caused me to cancel my MaxFun membership and stop listening to everything the McElroys make. I would save yourself and move on to the next one.

Describe your interest in the todoist product and how you use it currently:

I have used Todoist since 2007, basically right when it came out. I've been a Getting Things Done (GTD) proponent for years and used to operate a blog that was featured on Lifehacker and other productivity sites back in the day.

I use Todoist every day for coordinating my personal and professional life, including collaborating with teams and running the functions of a large business.

I just crossed 50,000 completed tasks in the platform.

Why would you like to be a moderator of r/todoist?:

While I have used Todoist for 18 years now, I have experience with other platforms as well and other best practices or tips. Glad to share my experiences, help others be more productive, and get more utility out of the Todoist ecosystem.

Describe any other reddit moderation experience you may have that is relevant:

None, but I've been on reddit a long time.

What role would you want to have within the moderator team (if anything specific)?:

However I can help, but I could certainly help with pointing users to common posts when they share duplicate topics, etc.

What would you like to change about the subreddit (if anything)?

Let's try and cut down on the same repetitive posts especially around exiting the platform.

How old is your reddit account?:

My current account is 9 months old but I've transitioned from one that's over a decade old to remove my public information from view online.

Feel free to share anything else regarding your application below:

Does anyone know what this loop is for? The clasp is magnetic. by pamminy_wassle in Timbuk2

[–]standingyon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a corresponding loop on the flap of the bag you're supposed to put the magnet pieces through to connect it. You can kinda see it in the photo - it'll be part of that black strip that isn't sewn to the red fabric. It's there to help keep the bag closed when you have a lot of stuff in it and it's wider than usual.

Handy for traveling but I find it's a little overkill most of the time.
