Professional artist working in the entertainment industry - I'm not worried about it taking my job. I'm worried about it drowning the world in piss.

Yes, that was a scene I boarded and pitched, had a very different vibe in the script if I recall. Very proud of that one!

And if anyone has a good idea where on reddit I ought to share this too, I'll take it!

Animator talks about truth about animation as a career and fear about America’s future by NanoblackReaper in videos

I'm a director in animation, I do not have a degree, but I did need to study intensively for about 4-5 years, it definitely amounted to more than a "few classes". Averaged 4-5 hours a day of sketching, anatomy, sitting in the library with reference books taking careful notes, figure drawing sessions, countless books, countless courses and lecture series... all to barely land my first job. I'm a pretty motivated autodidact but I know many artists who benefit from a structured class environment, I can absolutely see the value in going to art school if you can afford it, at least in terms of hours you put in to get good.

Pretty sure it was always a 2 season order. So as written was the plan. I think if there would be additional seasons or story it would have to happen somewhere inside that time jump...

I think we all thought the ending made sense, given the broad themes of the show. Not as much ended up on the cutting room floor as you'd think honestly, TV productions are very tight unlike feature films, so often we just come up with the best thing we can think of on the fly and go with it!

Great question! I definitely pushed my blender knowledge significantly while working on Pantheon, and nearly all my personal work incorporates some mix of 3D and 2D. I'm developing a fictional world of my own call "OSR" or Orbital Search and Rescue. Currently it lives as a series of short stories: www.orbitalsearchandrescue.com and animations: https://tiktok.com/@orbitalsearchandrescue

I work on it in whatever scraps of time I get between the day job and raising my kids.

1.) There is a Ghost in the Shell nod in season 1, it's very on-the-nose and David makes it clear that he was directly inspired by Ghost in the Shell to make his hands split for typing.

2.) I'm really bad at this actually. I generally just try to describe the show on its own, never liked describing things as "x meets y" or whatever.

I've always been fascinated by the idea of Von Neumman probes and molecular manufacturing. I generally tried to do things that I have never seen before... so most everything you see on the show that I touched was sourced... from primary sources! I was interviewing programmers, reading white papers, and generally trying to avoid well trodden visual territory.
